Ahead of August 31 deadline: North West ELECAM reveals registered over 18,000 voters.

He has called on those not registered to perform their civic responsibilities by adding their names on the list of registered voters before the August 31 deadline.

According to Mbowoh Elvis, "the North West has so far registered a total of 18,118 persons within a short period of time. And this can be broken down as follows; 7,764 for Mezam; 2,694 for Ndonga-Mantung; 2,359 for Momo, while Menchum is on 2,034, Boyo on 1,196. Bui has registered 1,308 voters while Ngoketungia has so far registered 767 voters". 

He added that: "At the beginning of the year, the Director gave us a target to register 27,000 new voters in the North West Region and we have realised more than half of that number. We had also given targets to the various divisions and it will be interesting to know that the Division with the highest percentage in relative terms is Menchum, which has covered 79.8% of its target, closely followed by Momo at 76.1%".

The ELECAM official indicated that, due to the insecurity in the region “we cannot reveal the strategies used in lobbying for voters”.

He, however, said “our strategies involve when and how we move in the field, so exposing them to the public will also be exposing them to those who do not want to see us in the field and that will be risky. It is, however, important for the people to know that we are working with the major stakeholders, political parties, civil society organisations, the administration and the forces of law and order".
