At press conference: Organisers announce readiness to host Cameroon Fashion Week.

The fourth edition of Cameroon Fashion Week is set to dazzle audiences from June 3 to 8. The information was made during a press conference organised by the organisers of the event at the National Museum in Yaounde on Thursday May 16. It also brought together some fashion giants. 



Initiated by Sophie Darel, this year's event promises to a vibrant fusion of Cameroonian and Brazilian cultures through fashion.

According to the organisers, the decision to collaborate with Brazil was influenced by the shared geographical, culinary, and cultural similarities between the two nations. 

A cultural village at the esplanade of the National Museum will serve as a focal point for celebrating this rich cultural exchange.

Speaking to the press, chief organizer, Sophie Darel, said: “Everything is ready for the big week. We are ready to collaborate with our Brazilian partners, tap from their rich knowledge, get the best practices, and see how to copy in our context”. 

“More so, we shall be giving the opportunity to young fashion designers to create contact and make meaningful partnerships. Tickets are available at 100,000 FCFA for the VIP Category and 50,000 FCFA for the Classics,” Darel added.  

The event will kick off with a welcome and registration day for the Brazilian delegation on June 2. The following days will be filled with a variety of activities, including workshops, exhibitions, and displays highlighting the best of Cameroonian and Brazilian fashion.

Organisers said attendees can expect interactive workshops on Cameroonian and Brazilian techniques, a visual arts exhibition featuring works from both countries, and a pavilion displaying cinema and music from the two nations. 

There will also be a fashion show featuring designers from both countries, with prizes awarded to distinguished artists and artisans.

One of the highlights of the event will be a gastronomy night at the Mfoundi waterfalls in Yaounde, where guests can enjoy a fusion of typical dishes from both countries, a fashion show featuring designers from both countries.

Meanwhile, a gala night on June 7 will include a fashion show presenting the creations of Cameroonian and Brazilian designers, followed by an award ceremony honouring distinguished artists and artisans.

The fashion week will conclude with a guided tour of local cultural sites for the Brazilian delegation, followed by a farewell dinner and a thanks-giving ceremony on June 9.

According to the organisers, the Cameroon Fashion Week promises to be a celebration of creativity, culture, and collaboration, displaying the best of African and Brazilian fashion design.
