Ramadan feast: Orange Cameroun fetes with Muslim faithful nationwide in style.

Leading telecommunication company, Orange Cameroun, has celebrated the feast of the Ramadan with thousands of Muslim faithful nationwide in an exceptional style.

The telecoms company through a series of actions reached out to faithful across almost all regional capital cities to make this year’s Ramadan feast extraordinary.



The annual Muslim feast crowned 29-30 days of fasting. The events took place on April 10. 

 

Faithful donated gifts in Y’de 

 

In Yaounde, the donation was made at the Briqueterie neighbourhood.

The Orange Cameroun team visited the Yaounde Central Mosque and some vicinities where Muslim faithful live. 

At each stop, the caravan attracted a mammoth crowd of curious jubilant onlookers. The Orange Cameroun caravan penetrated the densely populated neighbourhood, putting a smile on the faces of the population.  

Those who followed the eligibility criteria, officials said, were rewarded with gifts and a fidelity card. 

The basket consisted bags of rice, sugar, flour, a bottle of vegetable oil and fruiters contained in a gift basket. 

Faithful customers of Orange Cameroun, including those who downloaded the Max it application to ease their services also benefited the gifts.

Enter Director of Distribution

Speaking at the end of the exercise in Yaounde, the Director of Distribution of Orange Cameroon, Nana Mohamadou, said Orange Cameroun, recognises the importance of the blessed month and remains committed to stand by Muslim faithful.

Orange Cameroun, Mohamadou insisted, is always, “at the heart of all Cameroonians' precious moments, and that includes the religious and cultural celebrations that bring us together. Ramadan is a time of deep spirituality, sharing and generosity”.

Enter colourful donation in Bamenda

In Bamenda, Muslim faithful received gifts and words of encouragement from Orange Cameroun like their counterparts in other towns of the country.

The Ramadan feast also known as Eid Mubarak in Bamenda also witnessed a caravan that brought together faithful.

It started with a caravan from the Central Mosque in Old-Town Bamenda to Veterinary Junction, passing through City Chemist Roundabout and Commercial Avenue and back to the Sarki Palace at Old Town. The tour was spiced with continuous music and performances.

Present was the Leader of Muslim Community, Sarki Hamza Usmanu, and the Secretary General at the North West Governor's Office, Saidouna Ali, who represented the Governor at the event.

Orange Cameroun Chief of Sector for Bamenda-Nkwen and Boyo Division, Koko Gisele, coordinated the exercise.

While at the Sarki Palace in Old Town, several residents bought Orange SIM cards and took part in a raffle draw that spiced the celebration. 

At the end, winners were awarded baskets of gifts, made up of 5 kilograms of perfumed rice, oil, maggi, sugar and other items.

Koko Gisele told reporters that 30 baskets of the gifts were won during the event. Another basket of gifts was donated to Sarki Hamza for him and his family to enjoy the feast.

Muslim faithful among Orange Cameroun priority customers

Koko Gisele revealed that Muslim faithful are among Orange Cameroun’s priority customers. 

"We have been doing this for a long time. If we are counting our best customers in the North West Region, the Muslim community is amongst them," Koko stated.

The Orange Cameroun Chief of Sector for Bamenda-Nkwen and Boyo Division equally disclosed the gaining of 60 new clients during the exercise.

Orange Cameroun caravan species Ramadan in Maroua

In Maroua in the Far North Region, the Orange Cameroun caravan took the Ramadan feast to another level. 

The telecoms company through the caravan distributed food kits worth 500,000 FCFA to Muslim faithful.

The first stop of the Orange Cameroun caravan in Maroua was at the Douggoi neighbourhood. Here, a stand was erected and a crowd of Muslim faithful gathered in the ambiance of the day to further enjoy the feast.

The team also made a stop at the Artisanal Roundabout and later at the kakatare neighbourhood in the Far North Regional capital. Here, at least 40 Muslim faithful received gifts from Orange Cameroun.

Other faithful who took interest in the caravan also made use of the attractive services of Orange Cameroun. 

Some of them made mobile money transfers to their loved ones through Orange Cameroun services to gift their loved ones.

One of the beneficiaries of such offers, stepped out in joy after her number was read out by the Orange Cameroun team. She received a basket of gifts which beautified her Ramadan season.

According to the Marketing and Communications Officer of the Far North Branch of Orange Cameroun, Serge Seme, the gesture was to support and foster the spirit of togetherness and solidarity with the Muslim community.

Bango Bango Project, more on the way

Despite insisting on Orange Cameroun’s commitment to continuously stand by the population, Seme, said: “The year is pregnant with many innovations and opportunities coming up at Orange Cameroun and everyone should be on the alert. One of such is Bango Bango Project. Our customers should be expecting some good news which we shall soon inform them about”.

Other Divisions of the Far North Region such as Mayo Danay, Mayo Sava, Mayo Tsanaga, Mayo Kani and Logone and Chari also benefited from the Orange Cameroun offers.

Customers salute Orange Cameroun’s proximity, services

The Muslim faithful across the towns where the caravan visited saluted Orange Cameroun for coming to feast with them at Ramadan.

According to, Aliya Ousmanou, who won a basket of gifts for the first time in Bamenda, the offer will help her household and neighbourhoods. 

"I am very happy with Orange Cameroun because this is the first time I am benefiting from this opportunity. I never knew I could buy a SIM card and receive this beautiful gift from them. I can testify that Orange Cameroun has done something great in my life," Aliya said.

Imam Adamu Garba, stated that it was a pleasure celebrating Ramadan with Orange Cameroun.

"Orange Cameroun is part of us because we always see them around each time we are celebrating. With these gifts, I think they really acknowledged the importance of the Muslim community and their faith," Imam Adamu said.

While on his part, Muhammadou who also won a gift, classified Orange Cameroun as the best in terms of calls and internet services in Cameroon.

"I thank Orange Cameroun for this. I never expected to celebrate this day and go back with gifts. It is really surprising to me. I am calling on my brothers and sisters to come and register with Orange Cameroun and also enjoy their wonderful services," Muhammadou said.

In Yaounde, a Muslim faithful, Dilian Ketenbou, remarked that the gifts shall go a long way to strengthen the bond between Orange Cameroun and its customers.

“This is a wonderful gesture from Orange Cameroun. It shows that they have the population at heart. I am very happy because they have brought smiles on the faces of the population. We are overjoyed,” Ketenbou said.

Mohaman Ibrahim, another Muslim faithful, declared that the telecoms company has surprised.  

“I did not expect this from Orange Cameroun. I am so happy. This gifts will greatly help me at home. I really want to thank Orange Cameroun for thinking about us on this day,” Mohaman said. 

Similar activities, it should be said, took place in the towns of Garoua in the North Region, Foumban and Bafoussam in the West Region, Buea and Limbe in the South West Region as well as in Douala in the Littoral Region.
