At review of 2024 first quarter: Bilingualism Commission scribe crusades unity, speedy files treatment.

Senior bilingualism commission staff during coordination meeting

The Secretary General of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, NCPBM, Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius, has ordered staff of the institution to prioritise unity and the speedy treatment of files in the discharge of their duties.

Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius gave the prescription Wednesday April 3.

This was during a coordination meeting of senior NCPBM staff that took place in Yaounde.

The meeting was focused on reviewing the achievements of the first quarter of 2024 and planning for the next three months.

According to the Secretary General of the Commission, staff must uphold the spirit of unity and efficiency to ensure that the assignment the Head of State, President Paul Biya, entrusted to the institution is executed without complacency.

He reminded staff that working in disperse ranks would result in stumbling blocks and a fall in total output. Every staff of the Commission, he said, must continue to understand that they are part of a team with assigned objectives.

Referring to the institution’s 2024 action plan, Dr Chi Asafor said coherence and efficiency is what workers must strive for. Success in every endeavour, Dr Chi Asafor reiterated, is based on planning and projections.

Reflecting on what has been done in the last quarter, the Secretary General stated that, it provided an opportunity to know the reality of what has been achieved and correct errors.

The Commission, he said, is piloted in line with the laws in force and the 2024 Fiscal Policy of the country that prescribes deadlines for the execution of certain tasks.

He reminded staff that for the institution’s budget to remain valid and relevant, work must be done following the established calendar of the State budget.

In this regard, he reminded the senior officials on the need to uphold instructions relation to every staff submitting monthly reports of what they do daily at work.

Dr Chi Asafor said, it is also possible to redeploy staff who are underused to other services of the Commission to sustain output.

He told staff that hard work is always accompanied by rewards while there are consequences for people who idle around and only wait for salaries to be paid.

During the meeting, the different Directors of the institution updated the NCPBM scribe on what was done in the first quarter of 2024 in their respective sectors.

The staff also raised concerns and presented projects on what they plan to do in line with the annual plan of the institution in the next quarter.
