At least 20 traditional rulers of North West extraction have discussed how to revamp the moribund, North West Fons’ Union, NOWEFU, and crusade peace. This was the focus of a meeting they had in Douala, Littoral Region on Saturday February 17.

It was at the Douala palace of the Fon of Koshin village in Menchum Division, of the North West Region, Fon Ju  III Wilson Yaobum.

The event was not only rich in cultural display but also saw the custodians of tradition denouncing the atrocities committed by separatist fighters.

The meeting in Douala was a follow up of a similar meeting the traditional rulers held in Yaounde a few months ago.

The convener, Fon Ju III, said they discussed on how to unite and play a key role in pushing for the return of peace in their communities and the Region as a whole.

He told reporters that resolutions of the meeting will be channeled to the Governor of the North West Region. The Fons were categorical on the need for peace to return to the North West Region.

"We have taken the resolution to talk as one man, as upholders, fathers of the tradition. We say enough is enough. we are reviving the North West Fons Union and we shall all go the Bamenda on an unannounced date to hand our decision to the governor,” Fon Ju III declared.

A peace memo, already signed, he disclosed, shall be handed to the governor. It should be recalled that, the host, Fon Ju III, had in a rare outing, termed as “sacrilege” and “evil” the atrocities of separatist fighters.
