Dr Martin Mokake, Director of the Buea Regional Hospital Annex, and the Vice Chancellor of the BIAKA Institute of Buea, Dr Francisca Hongla Biaka, alongside three other esteemed individuals, have been installed as notables of the Royal Chiefdom of Limbe.

This was during a ceremony Saturday February 17 at the palace of the Limbe Paramount Chief.

The event, presided over by the Paramount Chief of Limbe, HRM Ikanea John Elufa Manga Williams, signified a profound recognition of installed personalities’ remarkable contributions to the community and their respective fields.

Chief John Manga Williams, in his address, underscored the significance of recognising individuals who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to the betterment of Limbe and its people.

"We are delegating the powers of the chieftain to them, to serve as our ambassadors, to go out there and bring back big game. The chieftain has to survive in all dimensions, and that is what their role is," he said.

The Paramount Chief of Limbe went ahead to praise the new notables for their outstanding achievements and expressed confidence in their continued commitment to the community's welfare.

He acknowledged that "...they are persons of very high moral, high character, good character that are fit in our societies and are fit in the various functions that they perform in our community".

Among the distinguished individuals honored are US-based Limbe Diaspora IT expert, Martin Lifanda; prominent businessman, Ebenezer BodyLawson, and Gerald Motanga, Director of General Affairs at SONARA.

Message to women

During the ceremony, Dr Francisca Hongla Biaka delivered an empowering message to all women, urging them not to limit themselves and to believe in their abilities.

She emphasised that every woman should continue pursuing her passions and endeavours, as their contributions will be recognised, even if not immediately within their own community.

Dr Biaka encouraged everyone to seize opportunities and reach for their full potential, affirming that success knows no bounds and can be achieved by those who persevere.

As Dr. Biaka, Dr. Mokake, and their fellow notables assume their new roles, they carry with them the responsibility to uphold the values of integrity, excellence, and service to the community.

Their induction into the Limbe Chiefdom symbolises the rich diversity of talent and leadership within the region, ensuring a bright future for all residents.

New notables elated

One of the installed notables, Dr Francisca Biaka, talking to the press, said: “I feel elated because I was born in Victoria some more than 60 years ago. In short, my parents, my father, and my mother were born in the tourist subdivision. And if the children of Victoria, which is Limbe today, recognise me as someone who can contribute to building up Victoria or Limbe, I am so happy".

Meanwhile, Dr Mokake, said: "I feel quite honoured and I also feel that it's a very big responsibility for me to be given this kind of position. This is because it means some other services to be rendered to my people. I am very sure that it's time for us to do better things and carry out bigger projects for the Limbe community in order to benefit the common man".
