Actions for Development and Empowerment, ADE, has flagged off a project to train five journalists, four bloggers and one influencer on social and environmental resilience in view of advocacy on topics related to climate change and its impact on people’s health.

The initiative launched by ADE is part of a grant from Solidarity Fund for Initiative Projects-Ecological Transition, SFIP-ET. It is co-funded by the French Embassy and the NSAF Council.

The first phase of the project was launched through a press conference at the head office of ADE. The press conference took place Friday January 12.

The project seeks to build the capacity of journalists, bloggers and influencers on environmental topics related to climate change and its impact on people’s health.

The project also seeks to advocate the implementation of public policies that promote resilience and reduce the vulnerability of populations.

ADE and its partners expect to through the project send advocacy messages to 100,000 persons. They are also looking to create awareness to various stakeholders and involve them and finally launch the call for trainees.

To achieve their goals, the organisers will use a variety of methods including the creation of flyers, a google form and the publications of relevant information relating to the call on ADE’s social media.

“It is an honour to be selected among 126 Africans that applied for this call and six of us were retained and I think it is a priviledge for us at ADE,” the Founder and Executive Director of ADE, Ndi Nancy Saiboh, explained.

She added that the project will focus on training journalists from the different platforms including influencers.

“They are going to have three-day intensive training from experts on Climate change,” Saibog said.

At the end of the training, participants will be required to produce articles.
