For innovation in technology use: FEICOM wins Best Archiving Innovation & Tool Award.

The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, best known by its French acronym, FEICOM, has been awarded the 3rd prize of Best Archiving Innovation and Tool Award.

This was during a ceremony of the Best Practices Archiving Awards, BEPA, and the official launch of the 2023 International Archives Week. The event took place in Yaounde Thursday September 7.

The ceremony, organised by the National Archives, through the Ministry of Arts and Culture, was presided over by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.

The aim of the ceremony was to reward public and private companies that have implemented the necessary management policies, procedures and archiving systems that enable them to remain competitive.

FEICOM stood out among institutions recognised. It was ranked third in the Companies and Public Administrative Bodies Categories. It was among 12 companies and government bodies rewarded for the works in the preservation of archives.

The distinction was handed over to the Director General of FEICOM, Phillipe Camille Akoa, by the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze.

Speaking to the press after the award ceremony, Phillipe Akoa said the recognition is a call to remain on the path of doing more.

“This award for us at FEICOM is good recognition, a great encouragement and a wakeup call to continue in this great path that we have traced. It is a call for us to reconstitute entirely the memory of our institution,” the FEICOM boss added.

The award, he added, is recognition for FEICOM’s efforts to organise and modernise archives, in line with good governance practices and meet the requirements of a Quality-Environment Management System.

It should be noted that FEICOM as an institution has been playing a key role in enhancing development nationwide. The corporation has aligned its policies with best national and international practices in projects execution with keen interest on environmental protection and the prioritisation of the interest of women and children.

It is among the leading state institutions that have appropriated government’s National Development Strategy to shape its commitments to help communities develop.

About BEPA

The Best Practices Archiving Awards, BEPA, is a competition that seeks to encourage and promote good archiving practices within public and private institutions. The competition also seeks to raise the awareness of actors of the national archiving chain on the importance of archives.

The competition falls in line with government’s commitment to ensure the respect of best practices in the preservation of the country’s archives. Officials said it is also part of the Cameroon’s National Development Strategy, SNDO30.
