CSPH GM assures B’da Gas Plant will be delivered on time.

The General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilisation Fund, popularly known by its French abbreviation, CSPH; Okie Johnson Ndoh, has assured the population of the North West Region, that the Bamenda Gas Plant project is feasible, realistic and will be delivered in due time.

The CSPH boss gave the assurances during a follow-up and evaluation meeting with stakeholders of the North West Region and representatives of the contractor, yesterday, at the project site in Bamendakwe.

The meeting was chaired by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolph Lele L'afrique.

After visiting the site and listening to the representatives of the contractor, Okie Johnson Ndoh, revealed that all the problems hindering the implementation of the project will be handled.

“Our presence here today is to assure the entire North West population that this project is treated as priority amongst other projects,” the visionary and workaholic CSPH boss stated. 

The results-oriented CSPH General Manager also sounded upbeat that challenges that have been identified are increasingly been resolved. 

Okie Ndoh said his evaluation of the ongoing works are “very positive…what we have seen today is that 30% of the works is realised between a short period of time,” he disclosed.

Okie Ndoh said solutions have been provided to challenges that had been identified, even during the laying of the foundation stone including access roads, electricity, security around the plant, water among others. 

He assured all and sundry that effective work has been ongoing on the site for six months now after the laying of foundation some nine months back. 

 

Contractor zooms on challenges 

It emerged during the follow-up meeting that the project is facing challenges ranging from insecurity, road, electricity, land and water.

It was revealed by Esunge Longonje, Director of JENS Production Ltd, the construction company awarded the contract, that the site has been facing threats from separatist fighters, scaring workers and causing delay in execution.

The contractor also complained about the poor road leading to the project site. He revealed that there are days they cannot transport materials to the construction site.

Other problems raised were that of water and the land surface area. Electricity problem is another challenge that was raised during the meeting.

 

The Director of JENS production, Esunge Longonje, however told officials that the company has sourced for more equipment to step up construction.

 

Enter NW Governor 

For his part, North West Governor, Adolph Lele L'afrique, said government, with assistance from security forces, will make sure that the site is well secured for work to go on without any attacks from gunmen. 

The administrator also called on the population of Bamendakwe and the entire Region, to support the authorities and cooperate for speedy realisation of the project.

The Fon of Bamendakwe and Mayor of Bamenda I Council, on their part, promised to coordinate the population of Bamendakwe. 

It should be recalled that works commenced on the Bamenda Gas Plant site about nine months ago. It emerged from yesterday’s working visit by the CSPH General Manager that the project is currently at 30% execution. 

 

About the project 

The Bamenda Gas Plant project consists four gas tanks with a capacity of 50 metric tons each, one fire water tank, one gas filling hall, one generator, one product and a fire pumping station.

It also consists two nitrogen and air compressors, one engineering building, one clinic, one cafeteria, one playground, two security buildings, two weigh bridges. The gas filling station will help the North West Region population to renew expired gas bottles and refilling of domestic gas.
