Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah wins Notable of The Year Award.

The ‘Ntumfon’ of the Fon of Mbengwi, for the Centre, South and East Regions, Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin, has been awarded another prestigious distinction.

The respected lawyer, forensic and criminal investigation expert, was crowned over the weekend as Notable of The Year.

The award was handed to the legal luminary, by authoritative and credible biweekly English language newspaper, The Voice. 

This was during a ceremony in Yaounde to mark celebration of the seventh anniversary of The Voice newspaper. 

The award ceremony brought together a cream of personalities from across the national territory and from all walks of life. 

The recognition of Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah, who doubles as President of the Common Law Lawyers’ Association for the Centre, South and East Regions, is based on the assessment of readers of The Voice.  

Members of the award jury told guests at the event that Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah was handed the award in recognition for his “commitment to promote the dignity of traditional institutions and the cultural diversity of Cameroon”.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah, expressed gratitude to The Voice for recognising his efforts in promoting the dignity of traditional institutions and for the cultural diversity of the country. 

“I am very happy to have received this important award. They have recognised my efforts in the promotion of culture and the tradition of our people,” he said.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh was categorically that the country can develop through its tradition and culture and “not through a foreign culture”.

“That is what I believe in and I believe that my culture is my identity. The way I dress, the way I talk, what I eat and anything I do, depicts where I come from,” the notable stated, adding that “it is a wonderful thing that such efforts are recognised and projected”.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh said the multiple awards received over the years, only comes to encourage him “to do more in the areas of the projection and the preservation of our culture”.

“I am from the North West Region. I am a lawyer, a notable of the Mbengwi Fondom and a title holder from the same Fondom. I dedicate this award to all the royal highnesses of Meta and all promoters of culture and tradition in Cameroon,” he stated. 

He further expressed delight to have been recognised by The Voice on same day celebrated and internationally acclaimed governance crusader and anti-corruption champion, Bâtonnier Akere Muna, was recognised as Personality of The Year. 

“…and having my prize handed over to me by him, a father handing over to a professional son, can only gladden my heart that, finally, I got it,” Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah happily stated. 

 

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh & promotion of culture 

Barrister Ndangoh Tah, it should be recalled, was officially crowned by the traditional ruler of Mbengwi, Fon A.A Njokem III, as his ‘Ntumfon’ for the Centre, South and East Regions, last March 26. 

The highly colourful event was attended by high-profile personalities, drawn from all walks of life and host of socio-cultural groups.

As Ntumfon, loosely translated in English as Fon’s Representative/Mouthpiece, Barrister Ndangoh, lords over people of Meta origin across the South, East and Centre Regions.

Fon Njokem III had told guests at the ceremony that Barrister Ndangoh was unanimously chosen by the Kingmakers of the land, for his ground-breaking development projects and unmatched efforts in promoting the culture of the land. 

Barrister Ndangoh Tah, it should be said, has been uniting all sons and daughters of the village for the common good. 

 

 

Barrister Ndangoh, who doubles as National Chairman of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, IICFIP, is on record to have been championing the calls for Mbengwi elite to shun fear, muster courage and visit the village and join the community’s development train.

Addressing Mbengwi sons and daughters in a separate gathering, he appreciated the population back home for the courage to stay back, heeding their peace calls and for sending their children back to school while also going about their daily businesses. He had used the gathering to also call on those out of the village to attend Mbengwi meetings in their various areas.

Barrister Ndangoh Tah has equally been doing his utmost to push for development as well as empower underprivileged persons in the village as an individual.

He singlehandedly opened the Mbengwi Community Library where he has donated over 3,000 textbooks to promote education and the culture of reading.

Barrister Ndangoh has also been at the fore, crusading and sponsoring effective school attendance in Mbengwi. He has equally been hailed for donating school kits to learners and paid fees for others. 

As President General of Mbengwi Elements Development Association, MEDA, he and his dynamic team of executives have been rehabilitating the road network in the village and building bridges to ease movement of the population. 

His development strides and efforts at promoting social cohesion, it should be said, earned him another traditional recognition in the South Region.

He was crowned as the development pillar and enthroned as notable of Bobwamu village, in the Batanga Clan in Lobe-Kribi, Océan Division of the South Region.

 

Barrister Tah the man

Born May 25, 1980, in Mbengwi, Barrister Tah, is the current National Chairman of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, IICFIP. The body is a global organisation charged with promoting and advancing forensic sciences and technology in investigations, techniques and mechanisms for fraud prevention, detection and investigation in public and private organisations.

After his Primary and Secondary education, in Momo Division of the North West Region, he moved to the University of Buea, where he obtained a degree in Law in 2005. He later earned a Masters in Law from the University of Yaounde II. 

In 2008, he was admitted as lawyer of the Cameroon Bar Association and the Supreme Court. This was after he had trained in the Muna, Muna and Associates Law Firm.

He is also holder of scores of certifications in varying domains of specialisation. He has equally handled several matters on international businesses, especially on Corporate Governance and Compliance, International Due Diligence and Insurance Claims.
