For selfless services to nation: Biya knights South Governor, Nguele Nguele.

Celebrated senior civil administrator and Governor of the South Region, Felix Nguele Nguele, has been knighted by the President of the Republic and Grand Master of the National Orders, H.E Paul Biya, for his selfless services rendered to the nation.

The ace administrator was decorated with a medal and elevated to the Dignity of Grand Officer of the Order of Valour. 

The merited recognition, it should be recalled, was conferred on the Governor last May 20, during the 51st National Day celebration. 

Governor Nguele Nguele was decorated on behalf of the Head of State, by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul. Also decorated at the ceremony was the Governor of the North Region, Abate Edi’i Jean.

This was Tuesday July 19, at the esplanade of the Yaounde City Council. The administrators were decorated on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the first Bi-annual Conference of Regional Governors in Yaounde. 

Governor Nguele Nguele was objectively selected among at least 3,200 Cameroonians, who were awarded medals across the globe by members of the National Orders, headed by the Grand Chancellor of the National Orders, Philemon Yang, after the consent of the Head of State cum Grand Master of the National Orders, President Biya. 

 

Governor Nguele Nguele expresses gratitude to Biya 

Speaking shortly after receiving the medal, Governor Nguele Nguele, who has had several other state recognitions, said it was humbling to have been given the state honours.

He seized the opportunity to express gratitude to the Head of State, “for the recognisition of my humble person”.

“I want to thank the President of the Republic for having distinguished me as Grand Officer...I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart,” Nguele Nguele said. 

He also expressed gratitude to his immediate boss, the Minister of Territorial Administration, for his efforts which enabled him to be chosen for the medal. 

“I equally want to thank the Minister of Territorial Administration for all what he did for me to be able to get access to this medal,” the administrator said, while also voicing out words of gratitude to his wife and family. 

The Governor dedicated his medal to the population of the South Region, from where he has been serving the state for several years. 

Quizzed on what the distinction means to him, Governor Nguele Nguele said: “I think being decorated is an invitation to do more”. 

 

Felix Nguele Nguele, the man 

The senior civil administrator is a graduate from National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM. He has been serving the nation without reservation for decades now. 

Nguele Nguele has made a name for himself within the civil administration in the country. He has on several instances won the confidence of the Head of State. 

He was promoted and appointed Governor of the South Region by the Head of State, through the decree of Friday October 23, 2015. 

Governor Nguele Nguele took over the South Region from Jules Marcellin Ndjaga, who was sent on retirement.

Before gaining the confidence of the Head of State for the post of Governor, he served as Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Mezam Division in the North West Region. 

Nguele Nguele was appointed SDO of Mezam on October 22, 2012. He headed the politically vibrant administrative unit for three years. 

Nguele Nguele once served as Secretary General at the Littoral and Centre Governors’ Offices. During these periods, he made his mark in a number of areas. 

He has in recent years proven his worth as a level-headed and clever administrator with mastery of the sociological components and complex nature of his area of command.  

His crisis management savvy has been put to test and proven efficient in several instances. Nguele Nguele has played a strategic role in resolving repeated inter-ethnic clashes between natives and Bamouns in the South Region.

In several instances, he has stepped up and doused tension within his area of command, reiterating the call of the Head of State for all to embrace the spirit of living together and social cohesion. 

Nguele Nguele has battled hard to restore state authority in South Region as well as helped step up vigilance in the borders with neighbouring countries like Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

The administrator has also been promoting living together between natives and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, from the crisis-hit regions of the country now residing in different parts of the South Region. 

He has vigorously fought acts of criminality, sale of roadside fuel, urban disorder among others. His admirers are also crediting him for putting a keen eye on the execution and follow-up of projects allocated to the South Region. 

He has also ensured effectiveness in schools within the region and fought acts of absenteeism by teachers within the schools.
