Guinness Super League: Brenda Tabe, Nnanga Raissa, lead scorers’ chart after round one.

Lekie Football Filles duo, Brenda Tabe and Nnanga Raissa have ended the first phase of the ongoing women

The forwards scored nine goals each during the first phase of the championship rounded off this Tuesday with each club playing 10 matches.

The two are ranked ahead of Ngah Manga also of Lekie Football Filles who is third top scorer with seven goals.

Raissa Nnanga successfully pull herself up to the top after creating an awesome strike partnership with the now-departed Farida Machia who now plays in South Korea.

The striker will be hoping to consolidate the pace when the second phase of the championship returns in the days as she looks forward to clinching the increasingly prestigious golden boat of the GSL for the 2022/2023 season.  

 

Unstoppable Tabe hoping to re-write history 

Tabe Brenda played in eight of 10 games for his club during the first phase of the league netting nine times.

The Indomitable Lionesses attacker and two-time GSL champion with Awa Filles missed out part of the season due to engagement on international duty.

She represented Cameroon in the intercontinental playoffs of qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.  

Brenda Tabe has been in the race for the top scorer of the Guinness Super League for years. She is looking forward to finally having her hands on the trophy this season.

 

Daunting challenge ahead

Despite the comfortable run enjoyed in the first phase which has Tabe, and Nnanga will have a huge challenge of maintaining the same form when the second phase resumes.

They are very likely to have huge opposition from other forwards also eyeing the Golden Boot.

Louves MINPROFF star lady, Priso Ndong Pauline has scored six goals already and is expected to be a big challenger for those already ranked top.

Awa Filles Weladji Tchadeu Claude has scored 4 goals in the campaign and is also being considered another big candidate for the award.

Other stars, Confidence Buh Bongben of FAP, Kibinde Kibinde Marie, Njoah Eto Naomi, AS Fortuna’s Kiki Meya Christine and Tufoin Juliet all have three goals each and mathematically have what it takes to close the six-goal gap separating them with the chart leaders.

Lamine Mana of Awa Filles won the golden boat last season after scoring over 20goals for the Centre regional team.

The second phase of the Guinness Super League will get underway in the days ahead.

The first round came to an end last Tuesday March 21, with a fixture pitting Authentic Ladies of Douala and AS Fortuna at the Annex of the Reunifications Stadium in Douala.

Lekie Football Filles emerged as the winner of the first phase with 28points.

Teams in the Guinness Super League are battling to replace Awa Filles who have won the last two editions of the competition.
