Military actions in the South West Region have recently come under review, and the morale of the troops boosted.

For one week, General Eba Eba Bede Benoit, Commander of the Second Joint Military Region, covering the Littoral and the South West regions, accompanied by Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine, Commander of the Second Gendarmerie region, took stock of military actions in the South West Region.

After Buea and Mamfe, it was the turn of Kumba, Chief Town of Meme Division where, the military high command arrived Thursday March 9.

Speaking upon their arrival in Kumba, General Eba Eba, said it was their normal routine mission to take stock of activities of their collaborators on the ground and boost their morale while handing to them new instructions.

“I am particularly delighted to know that they are in a very high spirit as they continue to carry out the delicate mission in the region,” General Eba Eba said.

The visit, which is coming on the heels of that of Buea and Mamfe, concluded the series of stock-taking missions in the region.

The Generals, accompanied by close collaborators, first paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Divisional Officer of Meme, Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlain.

The SDO hailed the security and defense forces for their bravery since the start of the crisis rocking the two English-speaking regions. He encouraged them to continue protection of lives and property.

The SDO also used the occasion to brief the military high command on the security situations of the division which he was delighted, is improving. The delegation later moved to the office of the 21st Support Battalion in Kumba where they held an in-camera session for hours.

Prominent amongst the discussion was the series of raids carried out recently by the soldiers of the 21st Support Battalion, and different strategies put in place to crush the different pockets of resistance across the division. It was also an avenue for the military high command to congratulate the different forces on the ground.

The Commander of the 21st Support Battalion, Mgbatou Machou Zakarioau, expressed gratitude to the General for the visit and said it is proof that his works and those of his collaborators are being recognised by the hierarchy.

In a banquet organised in honour of their august guests, the Commander of the 21st Support Battalion and his colleague of the National Gendarmerie, Commander Tang Fils. Both military officials hailed the brilliance of their men and urged them to continue in the same spirit.

It is therefore expected that the visit will see the security and defense forces step up their game in terms of defense of the territorial integrity of Kumba, Meme Division and the entire South West Region.
