Nfon Mukete IV wins prestigious award for crusading peace, nat’l unity.

Nfon Mukete IV was awarded March 4 as Cameroon’s peace and national unity personality of 2022.

This was during the 20th edition of the esteemed The Guardian Post Achievement Award. The event took place in Douala.

The traditional ruler of Kumba emerged winner of the 2022 Peace and National Unity Award. 

According to the certificate handed to the revered King, the recognition was for; “his unmatched role in strengthening the bonds of peace, national unity and living together in the cosmopolitan city of Kumba and beyond”.

At the crowd pulling ceremony, His Majesty Nfon Mukete IV in the contours of royal guards and collaborators, walked to the podium and received his award as admirers cheered ceaselessly.

Many simply said, since August 2020 when he succeeded his father,  Nfon Mukete III, Nfon Mukete IV has lived up to expectation  in every dimension of life.

He was saluted for filling the gap his father left at national and   community levels for the good of all.

From philanthropy to peace building; supporting non-indigenes and working for the continuous emancipation of the Bafaw, Nfon Mukete IV has been scored great as putting everything in perspective. 

To others, Nfon Mukete IV has proven that just like his father, he too is an asset Cameroon can count on even in  troubled  times.

‘Peace is something we shouldn’t joke with’

Shortly after receiving the recognition, Nfon Mukete IV reiterated his interest in contributing to see that Cameroonians live in peace.

At the ceremony, he sent a message to compatriots, stating that: “Peace is not something to be taken lightly. I pray we join hands to see that peace reigns in every nook and cranny of Cameroon”.

 

‘Let’s pursue excellence’

In addition to his royal counsel at the award ceremony, Nfon Mukete cited The Guardian Post newspaper and the award ceremony as sending across a message for Africans to pursue excellence.

While nothing that everyone cannot be selected for recognition, the traditional ruler said: “But even those who are selected, it doesn’t mean others are not good. It is should a beacon.  Just a beacon of hope; a beacon to say excellence is what we should do”.

In this new era, he said, “Africans should do more and more to go for excellence that would stand best standards across the world. I think we can all do it and that is what The Guardian Post is doing, reaching people right across the world, the Diaspora, the embassies; everyone subscribes to it”.

He expressed delight to have been, “selected by a very distinguished group of panelist, who found me worthy for this.  It is an honour for me to receive this award”.

Nfon Mukete lauded what he said is the quality of work The Guardian Post does in serving an audience that  has  gone even global.

He remarked that, “it is something which I always think Cameroonians should support. Based on the excellence of this paper, when you see the flashy headlines, it doesn’t end there, go inside and you will read the substance of a story”.

Nfon Mukete IV, not just a King

The man who was named Nfon of Kumba in August 2020 was publicly enthroned on April 10, 2021.

Beyond his royalty, Nfon Mukete IV is a known patriot who has made his name in the business world.

He has contributed to wealth creation and nation building in several spheres. The British-trained banker served for long as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Bank for Africa, UBA Cameroon.

Nfon Mukete IV is also Vice President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Crafts. He is also Turkish Honourary Consul in Cameroon among other portfolios on the international scene.
