The current joint top scorer of the recently launched 2022/2023 edition of the women

The 31-year-old put pen on paper for the deal last weekend, according to Lekie Football Filles, her employers before the move.

Lekie Football Filles confirmed the transfer in a statement on its official social media handles on Monday February 12.

“Farida Machia flying to South Korea. The Lekie FF striker will leave Cameroon in 48 hours for a new international adventure. She will be joining KHNP FC's, a Korean 1st division football club,” a section of the short statement from the club read.

“The farewells took place this Monday, February 12 after the traditional training session later accompanied by a dinner offered by the founder and team president of Lekie FF. The management of Lekie Football Filles and Machia’s now former teammates wished her all the best and especially a good continuation of her career,” the statement concluded.

Farida Machia joined Leki Football Filles in November last year after two years with the reigning Guinness Super League champions, Awa.

The forward is currently the joint -top scorer of the ongoing Guinness Super League campaign with 4goals.

She shares the podium with team mates, Ngah Manga and Raissa Nanga who have both found the back of the net on four occasions.

Machia’s free-scoring form inspired Lekie Football Filles to an impressive start in the ongoing women’s top-flight campaign.

Lekie, which won the league in 2017, are currently ranked top of the temporal classification table with 18points after six wins in six matches this term.

Impressive track record

Machia has been one of the most experienced players in the Guinness Super League in the last three seasons since her return from Portugal where she played for SC Braga.

The attacker won two league titles with Awa Filles in the 2020/2021 campaign during her debut season with Awa and later during the 2021/2022 season.

The forward scored 13 goals last season when Awa’s free-scoring attack anchored by the likes of Lamine Mana and Brenda Tabe overpowered heavyweights, Amazone FAP of Yaounde and Éclair Filles to successfully retain the crown.

She also represented Awa in the qualifying stages of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Before the African exploits, Machia had had a rich experience playing out of Cameroon, notably in Europe including at SC Braga in the Portuguese women’s topflight championship.

She played for SC Braga between 2018 and 2020 with her most memorable achievement being during the 2019/2020 UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign.

The then 28-year-old contributed four assists in five matches as Braga made a memorable debut appearance in the Champions League despite a bitter round of 32 elimination from subsequent semifinalists, Paris Saint Germain of France.
