The donation exercise took place the FECAFOOT headquarters in Tsinga, Yaounde on Friday February 3.

Coordinated by the First Vice President of FECAFOOT, Celine Eko, who doubles as the president of the women’s football league in the country, the handing over of the balls to the clubs presidents took place in the presence of the Samuel Eto’o, boss of the football governing body in Cameroon.

Each of the 12 clubs went home with 15 balls. The donation this season has witnesses an increase, compared to the previous season where each club received 10 balls.

Celine Eko stated the determination of the current leadership of FECAFOOT to support and accompany all actors working to promote women’s football in the country.

She also announced the upward review of FECAFOOT subsidy to the league this season.

Speaking on behalf of the clubs, the president of Lekie Football Filles, Nkoa Luc expressed gratitude to FECAFOOT and especially Samuel Eto’o Fils for his continuous efforts to bring female football to the limelight.

 

Action-packed weekend as Eding Filles extends lead

It was an action-packed weekend in the Guinness Super League, with Eding Filles of Lekie, extending their lead on classification table to 15 points after match day five games played on Saturday and Sunday.

The Centre region club thrashed Louves Minproff by 4 goals to 1 at the Annexe of the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, thereby extending their winning streak to five.

Farida Machia’s brace and a goal each from Marie Gisele Ngah Manga and Raissa Nnanga saw the ruthless Lekie overpower the club run by the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Family.

The girls of coach Stephane Ndzana have now recorded five wins in five matches, scoring 14 goals and conceding three. They have a delayed match against Canon Filles.

In other matches played over the weekend, Authentic Filles of Douala easily edged Ngadeu Filles of Ngaoundere by 3-0. The win see them maintaining their second spot on the league with 13 points in five matches.

Elsewhere, FC Ebolowa imposed a fifth successive defeat on Caiman Ladies of Douala.

The match played at the Annexe of the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde ended 3-0 in favour of the South region club.

Goals from Abega Reneitte, Delsir Matapa and Juliet Tufoin gave FC Ebolowa their fourth win in five games so far this season.

Two other matches played in Yaounde on Saturday ended on virgin ties. Éclair Filles and Eding Filles shared the spoils after a 0-0 score during the first match at the Military Stadium in Yaounde.

The top fixture of the day(Guinnessico), pitting Amazone FAP and last season’s winner, AS Awa Filles also finished goalless.

Amazone FAP’s goalkeeper, Chelsea Ngole was voted Woman of Guinnessico after an exceptional performance which frustrated the attacking firepower of Awa’s forwards.
