CREMINCAM GM speaking to reporters as deputy GM looks on

The General Manager of one of Cameroon’s leading microfinance institutions, Crédit Mutuel d'Investissement du Cameroun, CREMINCAM, Ruben Ntap, has stated that in its 15 years of existence, the institution has witnessed tremendous growth which has since positioned them as leader in the microfinance sector in the country.

The General Manager made the bold declaration Monday in Yaounde. This was during the launch of the microfinance institution’s 15th anniversary celebration.

The weeklong activities were flagged off at a ceremony chaired by the representative of the Director General of the Treasury, Financial and Monetary Cooperation, Moh Sylvester, who is also board chair of CREMINCAM.

The deputy General Manager of CREMINCAM, Valentine Okale Dang set the tone for Monday’s event held at the Yaounde headquarters of the microfinance institution.

Okale who is also coordinator of the organizing committee of the 15th anniversary, had welcomed guests to the gathering before unveiling the very charged weeklong activities.

In his scripted address delivered during Monday’s launching ceremony, the General Manager of CREMINCAM, Ruben Ntap, traced the story behind the creation of CREMINCAM.

Ntap explained that the creation of CREMINCAM was driven by the desire of staff of the Treasury department to establish an organization dedicated to fulfilling the economic, social, and cultural aspirations of its members by providing them with high-quality services.

“On this occasion, our thoughts go out in particular to the founders—the pioneers of this enterprise, some of whom are no longer with us today,” he said, before congratulating the organizing committee for the remarkable work accomplished in preparing for the anniversary week.

Turning to the substance of the day, the CREMINCAM chief executive recalled that over the years, amid various economic and professional challenges, the cooperative’s development has required them to devise an effective development strategy to strengthen the institution’s credibility and ensure its sustainability.

Ntap said CREMINCAM’s professional scope of operations was initially limited to the city of Yaoundé but has been expanded to include new offices in Douala and Garoua on an ongoing basis.

He said their services have also been expanded to include new areas of focus, such as money transfers, real estate projects, and insurance products.

He boasted that: “With a solid foundation, we’ve carved out a niche for ourselves in Cameroon’s microfinance sector. We’ve expanded our presence to become the leader. However, to achieve this, it took the unwavering commitment of our management, staff—and all our partners. We had to bring new ideas to the table”.
