National Assembly: Equato-Guinean Ambassador, House Speaker review parliamentary cooperation.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt Hon Theodore Datouo, and the Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to Cameroon H.E Armando Kote Echuaca, have reviewed parliamentary cooperation and explored fresh avenues of reinforcing bilateral ties between both nations.

This was during an audience the House Speaker granted Ambassador Armando Kote who doubles as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, in Yaounde on July 20. Discussions between officials also touched on regional solidarity, African cooperation and upcoming parliamentary exchanges.

Ambassador Armando Kote also used the audience to conveyed congratulations on behalf of the President of the Senate of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Teresa Efua Asangono, and the President of the National Assembly of Equatorial Guinea, H.E Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, to the House Speaker.

The Equato-Guinean diplomat also stressed the need for African countries to maintain unity and solidarity in addressing common challenges. He underscored the role of the African Union in defending the interests of member states and promoting greater continental integration and prosperity.

A key outcome of the discussions was the reaffirmation of a commitment to closer parliamentary ties between the National Assembly and its counterpart in Equatorial Guinea. Both sides expressed support for enhanced legislative collaboration and exchanges between lawmakers.

Speaking to reporters after the audience, Ambassador Echuaca said his visit was primarily intended to congratulate the Speaker for the successful organisation of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie gathering.

“I came to congratulate the President of the National Assembly for the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie. It was a very important event for the country and for Africans. These congratulations also come from the President of the National Assembly of Equatorial Guinea to his Cameroonian counterpart. It was a very important event and it went very well,” Ambassador Armando Kote Echuaca said.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for a planned visit by the Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by Hon Roger Melingui. The visit is expected to strengthen existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two legislatures.
