Lion Higher Institute, UBa seal academic mentorship deal.

One of the leading private higher institutions of learning in the country, Lion Higher Institute, LHI, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the University of Bamenda, UBa, to strengthen mentorship support for its Bachelor’s, Master’s and professional degree programmes.

The agreement was signed on July 18, 2026. This was during a ceremony that brought together 24 higher education institutions and the University of Bamenda.

In a statement issued after the signing, Lion Higher Institute said the partnership is intended to support the mentoring of degree programmes, including professional and academic degrees, as well as MBA and MSc courses.

Officials disclosed that under the agreement, the University of Bamenda will provide mentorship for programmes offered by Lion Higher Institute in areas such as Business Management and Finance, including Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management and Marketing.

According to Lion Higher Institute, the partnership also covers engineering disciplines, including Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Graphic Design, as well as Education programmes.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Prof Theresia Nkuo-Akenji, thanked the private higher education institutions for placing their trust in the university.

She said the partnership would focus on training young people with the skills needed to gain employment and create jobs.

The Vice Chancellor also pointed out the importance of transformative education and encouraged private institutions to train innovative thinkers.

For his part, the Director of Lion Higher Institute, Dr Penn Emmanuel Mbuh, said the institution would continue to provide problem-based learning for students and contribute to training future leaders.

Lion Higher Institute was created following authorisation from the Ministry of Higher Education to run Higher National Diploma, HND, programmes in Business and Management, Software Engineering, Education and other fields.

The institution has continued to develop academic structures and initiatives aimed at supporting student training and development.

Lion Higher Institute disclosed that the new partnership with the University of Bamenda is expected to reinforce these efforts through academic mentorship and collaboration between the two institutions.

“Lion Higher Institute, LHI, therefore views this agreement as another giant step toward becoming one of the leading higher education institutions in Cameroon,” the institute stated.
