Candidates fete BEPC success, prepare for new life.

Successful candidates in the 2026 session of the Brevet d’Etude du Premier Cycle, BEPC, of the Francophone sub-system of education have been celebrating while also pondering on career choices in the high school. BEPC is the equivalent of Ordinary Level in the English subsystem of education.

The Ministry of Secondary Education released the results on Monday, July 6. In several neighbourhoods in Yaounde, successful candidates as well as their parents have been celebrating ceaselessly since the publication of the exams.

One of the successful candidates, Aissatou Aboubakar, told The Guardian Post that “this was my first time sitting for the BEPC examination. The written phrase was complicated for me so I never thought I would succeed in my first attempt. I am so glad”.

Just like her, another successful candidate, Nivaelle T., said she was overwhelmed by the success. Nivaelle stated that she had been tensed days to the release of the results. With the certificate now in hand, she said it is time to enjoy the rest of the holiday.

“Since we finished writing, I have not been really focused. I am glad the results are now out and I am successful. I can now have fun and enjoy the rest of the holiday while preparing for the next school year,” she stated.

Parents on their part have also celebrating what some said is an unforgettable moment with their children.

A parent, Waffo Yannick, remarked that: “I can only thank God; my daughter has passed this exam. I knew she was going to make it because she studied very hard”.

Another parent of a successful candidate, Ateba Sarah, said her first daughter has made her family proud with the BEPC success.

Ateba said the success of her child means she didn’t spend money in vain. “… it has been celebration in my house since results were released,” she stated. She urged unsuccessful candidates not to give up but to study harder and try again.

While some candidates are jubilating, some are yet to settle on what to do next. Many said they are yet to choose. They cited “A” where the main subject is ‘Français’, French and “C” with the main subject being ‘Mathematique’, Mathematics

In order to clarify the confusion, some candidates are usually oriented by their dreams. This is the case of Roufaida Maida, a successful candidate at the BEPC examination. “I wish to be a renowned writer, that is why I have chosen the “A” series,” she said.
