Mbakwa Supe: Hon Chief Motase David installs new traditional council members.

The new council members, who were voted on April 25, 2026, were urged to be committed, loyal and serve diligently in their new assignments. 

Ekolle Edwin Sakwe, from the Bo'namayoh family, is the head of the Council that has 17 persons from the sixteen families and one non-indigenous representative. The Council also has five women and a youth representative. 

The event was an opportunity for the Mbakwa Supe traditional ruler to applaud the Divisional Officer of Konye Subdivision, Attah Moses Ndep, for his levelled-headedness and magnanimity in handling administrative affairs in his area of command. 

He as well lauded the Chairman of the Ad hoc Committee, Dr. Barrister Musima George Lobe, who also doubles as the Mayor of the Konye council and his members for championing and putting in place the new members of the Mbakwa-Supe traditional council. 

He thanked the outgone chairman of the traditional council, Lambo Bonyeki, and his team for the role they played in keeping the village intact with the various challenges they faced. 

23 years achievements as chief

Also, he used the occasion to count his 23 years achievements as Chief of Mbakwa Supe. Hon Chief Motase noted that under his stewardship, the Government Secondary School, GSS, was created and four classrooms built. 

He said he later on lobbied for the creation of a Government Nursery School, the upgrading of the Mbakwa Supe health centre to the status of a Subdivisional hospital with a visiting Medical Officer. 

He added that more was done in other aspects in the village and added that he is still lobbying for the upgrading of the Government Secondary School to a high school.

He stated that the Mbakwa Supe, with a population of over 5,000 inhabitants, is a political force to reckon with, as it has four polling stations, “which fetches over 2,000 votes for the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement party, CPDM, during elections. 

Earlier, during the presentation of the new members of the traditional council, the chairman of the ad hoc committee noted that the putting in place of the new team is an indication of advancement, development and change in Mbakwa Supe. 

He added that he and his team were honoured to have been chosen by the highest institution of the village to serve in the historic event. He extended gratitude to all the living forces in the village, notable the Kingmakers, men, women, the youths for the confidence and support bestowed on them to ensure a smooth transition of power from the old to the new traditional council.

On his part the Divisional Officer of Konye Attah Moses Ndep stated that it was not only a physical transfer of power, but a glorious transition as it was welcomed without opposition. 

He noted that the manner in which the transition was done is unprecedented in his administration and called on other communities to emulate Mbakwa Supe. 

He added that Mbakwa-Supe is a "born again" village as it has transitioned from a hospitable village to a much more hospitable community as the people have decided to reason in one direction.

The event that witnessed the pouring of libation, was spiced with traditional dances, while an artiste who hailed from the village, Ndinga Mavingue, thrilled the population with his traditional relics. It ended with heavy feasting and merry-making.
