New SW ELECAM delegate charged to boost voter registration.

Dr Essouse was speaking whole installing Abdoullahi Boboe as the new Regional Delegate of ELECAM in the South West on Friday, May 29. 

Boboe succeeds Zofoa Njoya Sake, who has been transferred to the West Region after serving as South West Regional Delegate for more than two years. 

Dr Essousse described the transition as part of a routine administrative reorganisation designed to maximise the institution's effectiveness as it readies itself for a crucial election year.

Addressing the newly installed delegate, the Director General said the immediate priorities for the incoming delegate includes sustaining the gains of his predecessor and pushing the frontier of ELECAM's presence across the region. 

"Our expectation is to further improve ELECAM's activities in the South West Region, thus voter registration and the distribution of voter cards must continue vigorously," the ELECAM DG charged.

The timing of the move is significant. It comes ahead of multiple elections to be organised in 2027. 

Meanwhile, Zofoa Njoya Sake's tenure was marked by incremental improvements in voter enrolment and operational efficiency.

Sake’s transfer to the West Region, one of the most politically competitive regions in Cameroon suggests that ELECAM regards him as a capable hand for difficult assignments.

For his part, Boboe, said collaboration with all stakeholders and fair management of post electoral disputes will define his mandate. 

"Our responsibility in this beautiful region is to observe, analyse and, where necessary, engage in dialogue with all stakeholders involved in the electoral process,” he pledged, noting that: "Our objective is to manage upcoming elections with impartiality and neutrality so that all election stakeholders in the South West Region are satisfied with the work of ELECAM".

Beyond the formalities, the new delegate faces a set of pressing challenges that will define his tenure like voter-registration as enrolment rates in most area remain below the national average.
