21st Support Battalion: New commander tasked to combat security threats in Meme.

The new Commander of the 21st Support Battalion of the military with headquarters in Kumba, Major Epada Moukengue Yannick, has been tasked to combat security threats across Meme Division of the South West Region.

The charge was given by the Commander of the 21st Motorized Infantry Brigade, Colonel Meka Eyenga.



This was on Friday, May 8 in Kumba, during a ceremony to commission Major Epada, 39, into his functions.

The event took place in the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Ntou'ou Ndong Chamberlain, the City Mayor of Kumba, Gregory Ntemoyok Mewanu, and other administrative authorities.

Colonel Eyanga charged Major Epada to use his wide range of experience in the military to combat the current security challenges in the administrative.

He congratulated the outgone commander, Lieutenant Colonel Machou Zakarioa, for what he said was his commendable sacrifices during his over five years stay. He called on the officers of the ranks and file to respect their new boss for the smooth functioning of the unit.

Colonel Meka also asked the Major Epada and his troops to ensure the smooth organisation of the forth coming National Day without not also losing guard in protecting persons and property.

Colonel Meka also urged the population to collaborate with the new head of the 21st Support Battalion to ease his assignment.

The ceremony unfolded in strict military style. It also featured congratulatory salutations from the dignitaries to the newly installed Commander. 

The event culminated in a military parade led by the National Gendarmerie, the army the Rapid Invention Battalion, BIR and the army rescue. 

Major Epada was born some 39 years ago in Kribi, South Region. He is a graduate of the 2010 batch of the Combined Military Services Academy, EMIA.

He holds a decree in law and human rights from the University of Yaounde II Soa and has had stints in the United States, China and France. 

He has served in the BIR in Limbe for several years before he was sent back to the regular army. Before his appointment, Majo Epada was serving in the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, in the Far North Region. 

He replaced Lieutenant Colonel Machou who was transferred to Simbock, Yaounde in the same capacity. Major Epada is Married and father of three.

Recall that he was appointed following a Presidential decree of March 31, 2026 appointing senior military officers across the country.
