Customs Communications boss, Jean-Claude Ekoube, wins int’l award.

Ekoube receiving award from G2G founder

The Head of the Information and Communication Unit of the Customs service, Jean Claude Ekoube, has scooped a prestigious international award for his excellence service to the nation.

The Customs communication boss received the award from the United Nations Collaborative Intergovernmental Scientific Research Institute (CISRI) in Cameroon, in partnership with the Grass To Grace, G2G, International Foundation.

The award was handed to him by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of G2G-Cam, HRH Thomas Fotang. This was during a brief ceremony organised at the premises of the Directorate General of Customs in Bastos, Yaounde.

The award was handed over as part of Season 6 of the G2G Courageous Men & Women’s Prize. The Achievement Award, G2G founder said, was bestowed on Ekoube for his excellent humanitarian development services rendered to the less privileged communities as a nation builder and an outstanding humanitarian activist.

He added that the distinction also recognises Ekoube’s role as a strategic leader par excellence in Customs’ information management in Cameroon.

The G2G founder, who is also Goodwill Ambassador Beneath UN-CISRI Cameroon, said if there is one person with a strategic role in the information and communications department of Cameroon’s Customs service, who has accomplished such tremendous work, then it’s Ekoube.

“He deserves applause because, as you can see, since he took over this department, Cameroon’s customs service has been advancing at such a pace that it’s hard to even describe,” G2G founder told the press.

Describing Ekoube as a trailblazer for the nation, Fotang stressed that “the empowerment he has achieved with the Jean-Claude Ekoube Foundation and the rest of the program is enormous”.

Awardee says honoured

Reacting after receiving the award, Ekoube expressed gratitude and humility for the recognition.

“Receiving this award today is an honor not only for me and for the customs administration, but also for Cameroon as a whole, because we are actively working to promote peace, unity, and development in Cameroon,” Ekoube told the press.

Dedicates award to hierarchy

Ekoube then dedicated the recognition to the hierarchy, especially the Director General of Customs, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga, as well as to the entire customs and media community.

Through their daily works, he said they remain committed to contribute actively to the achievement of nation’s noble objectives.

“This is an accomplishment but also a commitment to continue working positively in this direction to effectively fulfill our daily missions,” he said.

He insisted that innovation remains the main axis for Customs information and communication department, with emphasis on instantaneous transmission and interaction with target audiences, internally and externally.
