The Director General of the National Employment Fund, NEF, Camille Moute à Bidias, has commended staff for their excellent and masterful organisation of the recent Job Discovery Days.

The DG praised the staff on Friday, May 1.

This was during celebrations marking the 140th International Labour Day, under the theme: “Social dialogue and decent work: Factors of peace, national cohesion and economic development”.

Addressing NEF staff during the commemorative gathering, the Director General expressed deep satisfaction with the outcomes of the three-day Job Discovery Days initiative, which he said significantly advanced the institution’s mission of promoting employment.

“It is the moment to speak about the 13,000 young people that we have integrated or who have received promises of integration,” he declared.

He said the results achieved within just three days demonstrate both the relevance of the NEF’s programmes and the dedication of its personnel.

NEF boss cited the example of the Northern Agency, which alone recorded about 1,400 integrations by the second day of the event.

While noting that the milestone did not receive as much public attention as expected, the NEF boss insisted that it in no way diminishes the significance of the achievement.

“That takes nothing away from what you have done,” he reassured staff, promising formal letters of congratulation to all agencies involved.

Mastery of service delivery

During the event, Camille Moute à Bidias particularly praised the growing professionalism among NEF staff, highlighting their improved understanding and delivery of the institution’s service offer.

“There is now a mastery of the Job Discovery Days, a mastery of all aspects from the angle of our service offer. That made me extremely happy,” he said.

He insisted that the ability of staff to clearly communicate NEF programmes and strategies reflects a deeper institutional maturity. This, he added, is crucial for the effective implementation of employment policies and initiatives across the country.

“My great concern has always been that you understand the service offer of the NEF and the stakes involved. Seeing that my executives now master this gives me great satisfaction,” he noted.

Vigilance, commitment…

The NEF Director General used the occasion to remind staff of the broader significance of their mission.

He described the institution as a critical instrument in the fight against unemployment and social instability.

“The NEF is a stake between the forces of good and the forces of evil. You must be very careful,” he cautioned, urging employees to remain committed and vigilant in the discharge of their duties.

Moute à Bidias reiterated that with adequate resources, the NEF could significantly expand its impact, creating more opportunities for citizens. “If we have the means, many Cameroonians will be happy. People will work, they will eat, and they will live with dignity,” he stressed.

He also highlighted the potential for institutional growth, noting that increased funding could lead to the expansion of NEF agencies nationwide, thereby creating additional employment opportunities both within and outside the organisation.

Renewed commitment to decent work

The NEF boss called on staff to build on the momentum generated by the Job Discovery Days and continue striving for excellence in service delivery.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting decent work as a cornerstone of peace, national cohesion and economic development.

In his address, Camille Moute à Bidias also paid tribute to media professionals for their role in covering NEF activities, describing their contribution as essential in raising awareness about employment opportunities and programs.

He acknowledged that the success of initiatives like the Job Discovery Days depends not only on internal efforts but also on effective communication and public engagement.
