At May Day fete: FEICOM DG urges staff to remain committed in service.

The Director General of the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, Philippe Camille Akoa, has called on workers to uphold commitment to service.

He made the call during celebrations to mark the 140th edition of the Labour Day.



Akoa commended staff for their commitment to contribute to the transformation of regional and local authorities.

He challenged staff to keep up the good work, adding that actions will continue to promote and improve social dialogue; foster decent work conditions and develop human capital. 

He reminded them to maintain rigour and integrity in service in line with the founding fathers of FEICOM. The DG challenged workers not too lose sight of the goal of enhancing local development in the interest of the population.

The DG declared that the actions “…form the bedrock of FEICOM´s collective performance and guarantee the sustainability of daily actions of all workers, across the board”.

The staff representative, Dika Ndongo, thanked the management of FEICOM to consistently taking actions that make employees the point of attraction within Cameroon, Africa and the world.

Ndongo said under Camille Akoa’s leadership, FEICOM has undergone several transformation.  He said the DG has supported workers in the best way possible, making it possible for them to work in befitting environment.

The staff representative added that, similar work conditions now obtain in field offices, where moder town halls and housing estates have been constructed, easing the task of field staff.

Ndongo said the marvelous work of the current FEICOM management has not gone unnoticed. She cited the Head of State, President Paul Biya’s decoration of Camille Akoa with the medal of Grand Officer of Valour in addition to two ISO Certifications. 

The ISO, she revealed, is about to certify FEICOM again for best practices in treatment of workers. He mentioned several other recognitions which the DG has enjoyed including his designation by the United Nations Women as a HeForShe Ambassador; President of the African Network of Financiers of Decentralized Collectivities among others.

Workers also lauded the DG for instituting training programmes, reinforcing the practice of bilingualism, regular payment of salaries and CNPS contributions.

Other actions which Camille Akoa was saluted included; health allowance for staff and family members, transport allowance for workers who are not mobile and fuel allowance for those who drive to and from work and regular election of staff representatives.

They appealed for Management to continue renewing and signing the work contracts of staff whenever due.
