Meme: Suspected Amba fighters kill six in Mbalangi attack.

According to the Divisional Officer, DO, of Mbonge Subdivision, William Otto Bedeje, the armed assailants stormed Mbalangi and started shooting indiscriminately at a drinking spot where the population were enjoying a peaceful weekend. 

The administrator disclosed that three people werre killed on the shootout. He added that the gunmen later set ablaze the drinking spot where three more people were roasted to death by the fire. 

The DO said the attack in Mbalangi came on the heels of a similar incident in Ekona in Muyuka Subdivision. The Ekona attack is suspected to have been perpetrated by the same assailants who attacked Mbalangi. 

The Divisional Officer, however, regretted the fact that because of the poor road network within his area of jurisdiction, he and his collaborators have not been able to visit the crime scene. 

The administrative authority extended the condolences of his hierarchy to the affected families and encouraged the population to be on the lookout and report any incident to the security forces.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Mbalangi with increased military presence to wave off any further attacks on the population. 

The sad incident in Mbalangi on Sunday, April 12, has raised concerns on the security of persons along the Kumba-Buea Road this farming season.

Mbalangi is a locality along the Kumba-Buea Road under Mbonge Subdivision, Meme division of the South West Region and have been a hot spot in the face of the close to 10-year armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions.
