The Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, CONAC, Rev Dr Dieudonne Massi Gams, has prescribed professionalism, teamwork and integrity to members of the Inter-ministerial Committee in charge of organising the 16th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa.

Massi Gams gave the instructions while officially installing the committee members in Yaounde Tuesday.  He also used the event to launch a robust communication plan for the continental gathering, scheduled to hold in Yaounde, from May 4 to 8, 2026.

The weeklong conference, it should be said, will be holding under the theme: “Deploying Artificial Intelligence in the Fight Against Corruption in Commonwealth Africa”.

It is expected to bring together over 200 participants from more than 25 countries, including Heads of Anti-Corruption Institutions, experts from national and international organisations and anti-graft practitioners from across Commonwealth Africa.

It will explore how Commonwealth Africa nations can harness innovation while safeguarding accountability, privacy and public trust.

Rev Dr Massi Gams said the installation of the Organising Committee members, marks two decisive milestones in preparation for the conference.

“…hosting an event of such magnitude requires preparation of the highest standard,” Massi Gams told the Organising Committee members.

He insisted that “excellence cannot be improvised; it must be organised” and that “success is built through discipline, coordination and collective commitment".

He also urged them to ensure flawless logistical coordination, facilitate institution collaboration, guarantee efficient protocol arrangements and create an environment, conducive to productive dialogue among participating delegations.

“…you are therefore called upon to embody three guiding principles: professionalism in every decision taken; team spirit in every challenge encountered and integrity in every action undertaken,” he instructed.

The Inter-ministerial Organising Committee, it should be said, is headed by the Permanent Secretary of CONAC, Kowo Ernest.

The Presidency of the Republic is represented by the Charge de Mission at the Secretariat General of the Presidency, Tarh Besong Frambo, while the Head of the Prevention and Communication Division, Irene Morikang Tche, is the Rapporteur.

The committee is also made up of six CONAC members, amongst them a Member of the Coordination Committee, Achaleke Christian Lek.

Other members of the committee are from the security and defence system, the Ministry of External Relations, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Arts and Culture.

The enlarged nature of the committee, it was stated, is to ensure a hitch- free unfolding of the continental conference.

Communication plan launched

While unveiling the communication plan, designed to inform, engage and inspire, Rev Dr Massi Gams harped on the need for effective communication in ensuring the success of the conference.

He said the plan is intended to give visibility to the objectives, activities and outcomes of the conference and make it accessible to citizens, institutions and international partners.

Massi Gams added that the communication plan will also promote transparency and foster public ownership, reminding citizens that the fight against corruption belongs not only to institutions, but to the society as a whole.

He urged pressmen to “carry accurate and impactful messages that reinforce public trust and awareness”.

He said the launch of the communication plan signifies CONAC’s determination to ensure that the conference resonates beyond the Conference Centre of Yaounde and reach citizens, institutions, and partners across the continent and beyond.
