Elite One: Managerial casualty continues as Fauve Azur sacks coach.

Former Fauve Azur coach Olivier Nankam

The managerial casualty in the MTN Elite One championship has continued following the decision of Fauve Azur of Yaounde to sack its head coach, Olivier Nankam.

The club took the decision on Monday, March 9, 2026. Nankam has been in charge of eight matches this season with Fauve Azur before his contract was terminated over insufficient results.

The former coach of Aigle Royal of the Menoua has managed only two wins and six defeats. These results have left the club in 12th position on the 14-club league table. They have managed only six points with fellow current relegation zone occupants Stade Renard of Melong and Aigle Royal of Moungo.

Nankam becomes the second head coach to be axed in the Elite One this season. He joined Souleymanou Aboubakar who suffered the same fate for Stade Renard.

In a statement, the club president Norbert Nya officially confirmed that Théodore Ngatchou will take over from Nankam at the helm of the team. Ngatchou is no stranger to the club.  He is making his return having led the team during the 2022 season.

Fauve Azur of Yaounde has decided to overhaul its technical staff in response to a string of disappointing results since the start of the season.

Following the decision, Ngatchou will be assisted by Ngoupeyou Tchatchouang Armand who will serve as interim assistant coach. The rest of the staff includes Taku John Mbi as goalkeeping coach, Edima as fitness coach, and Noudjeu Alain in charge of logistics.

This new technical team will officially take up their duties yesterday. The best test for Ngatchou and his team comes up this weekend against 2024 champions, Victoria United FC.

The MTN Elite One championship has been on break after 30 home-based players were selected for a training camp with the national team under David Pagou.

The camp ended Wednesday with players set to return to action with their respective clubs. Fauve Azur was represented by defender L’Almine Abdoul and strikerAmbroise Owoundi Evouna.
