Female staff of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, MINAT, have extended a hand of solidarity to the vulnerable population in Yaounde.

The charitable gesture took place on March 4, 2026, in the Yaounde II Subdivision.

During the ceremony, essential food and hygiene items were distributed to needy families.

This was as part of activities marking the 41st edition of this year’s International Women’s Day. It was commemorated under the theme: “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls”.

The ceremony, which held at the esplanade of the Sub Divisional Office at Tsinga, was presided by the Director of Civil Protection, Angèle Ndzie Ntsama.

The event brought together female officials and staff of MINAT, as well as local administrative authorities, notably the Divisional Officer, DO of Yaounde II, Aboubakar Garba, who coordinated the exercise.

During the outreach, close to one hundred beneficiaries, drawn from more than a hundred families, received donations aimed at easing their daily hardships.

They were given food items and hygiene products, including rice, vegetable oil, sardines, sugar, soap, buckets and sanitary protection for women.

Speaking at the ceremony, Angèle Ndzie Ntsama said the initiative aligns with the inclusive vision promoted by public authorities, which places emphasis on national solidarity and support for the most vulnerable segments of society.

She said the assistance demonstrates government’s commitment to social inclusion without discrimination based on gender, age or religious affiliation.

She also highlighted the support of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, whose encouragement of grassroots initiatives has motivated staff of the ministry to undertake actions that directly impact vulnerable communities.

The outreach, she noted, reflects the ministry’s mandate to promote social cohesion and assist disadvantaged groups across the country; this at a time when many households continue to grapple with the rising cost of living.

MINAT staff equally used the occasion to sensitise men and women on the importance of working together to build a gender-balanced society.

The beneficiaries, who had earlier been carefully identified through a verification process, expressed joy and gratitude for the timely intervention.

Many recipients said the donations would help ease the burden of providing for their households. They commended the women of MINAT for their gesture of compassion and solidarity.
