Cameroon has been invited as a star guest to the 5th Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit scheduled for April 20 to 21, 2026, in London.

The invitation was formally extended on March 2, to Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, by the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, CWEIC, Lord Jonathan Peter Marland. This was during an audience in Yaounde.

According to Lord Marland, the London summit will bring together Heads of Government, ministers and senior business leaders from across the Commonwealth for two days of high-level discussions and networking.

He disclosed that the 2026 edition will be held under the theme: "Commonwealth Solutions to Global Challenges". The summit will focus on Artificial Intelligence, sustainable energy transition, infrastructure investment, health technologies, creative industries, and developments in the global financial system.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Prime Minister, Lord Marland described their encounter as a constructive engagement on expanding economic cooperation.

“It is a privilege to have been received by the Prime Minister of this great country. I wanted to extend the invitation to be a star guest at the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit in London in April,” Lord Marland stated.

He added that the Prime Minister, a former Minister Delegate in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth at the Ministry of External Relations, “has been a real friend to the Commonwealth and of course a friend to our organisation”.

According to Lord Marland, the visit also offered an opportunity to introduce business representatives operating in Cameroon from across the Commonwealth network. Discussions centered on strengthening trade flows and unlocking further investment opportunities through the Council’s regional hub based in Cameroon.

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council is the Commonwealth’s accredited business network, facilitating targeted trade missions and commercial partnerships.

It comprises more than 100 strategic and government partners operating in 30 countries, including Cameroon.

The April summit in London is expected to provide a platform for member states to present investment prospects, forge new partnerships and address shared economic challenges. Cameroon’s participation as a featured guest is set to spotlight its market opportunities and deepen engagement with Commonwealth investors.

The event will convene policymakers and private sector leaders at a time when member countries are seeking coordinated responses to global economic shifts, technological change and infrastructure financing needs.
