Orange Cameroun donates equipment worth over 49 MFCFA to hospitals.

Orange Cameroun Foundation has in a bid to improve quality healthcare delivery to the population of the North West and South West regions donated equipment and material worth over 49 million FCFA to hospitals.

The items aimed at reducing the cost of healthcare delivery to the population already suffering as a result of the crisis rocking the two regions were donated to the Bamenda, Buea and Limbe Regional Hospitals, recently.

The gifts followed talks with the management of the aforementioned health facilities on the needs of the structures.

The Mobile telecommunications company, through its foundation, remains committed to being at the heart of the fight for the wellbeing of the populations in the two Anglophone regions through quality health care.

Tackling Cholera epidemic from the base

Orange Foundation in order to reinforce the system put in place at the Limbe Regional Hospital to fight Cholera epidemic, a borehole to help resolve the problem of water scarcity that had been hampering measures to curb the spread of Cholera.

The borehole with a capacity of 25,000 litres will also serve both the hospital and the surrounding communities already suffering from water crisis.

The donation will enable the hospital to have constant water, the first weapon in the fight against the cholera epidemic as well as reduce stress hitherto undergone by inhabitants.

The borehole, it should be said, operates without interruption daily from 6 am to 6 pm, with extended access for the neighbouring populations, as well as one pump and solar panels.

Equipment to fight heart diseases

Recent observations indicate that there has been an increase in cases of cardiovascular diseases, partly associated with the COVID-19 pandemic due to respiratory distress with majority of the cases that have ended in death.

Orange Foundation to this end, wants to strengthen the reception capacities of units specialised in the North West and South West regions to handle cardiovascular diseases.

The Foundation donated appropriate materials and equipment worth 32 million FCFA dedicated to the Buea and Bamenda Regional Hospitals.

The equipment to help fight a rise in cases of heart diseases included among others oxygen concentrators, oxygen pressure gauges, aspirators, electrocardiograms, complete hospital beds.

Revisiting stages of the donation

The first stop of the Orange Foundation caravan to donate the equipment took place at the boardroom of the Orange Cameroun office in Douala.

Here, there was a working session that allowed the staff of the Bamenda Regional Hospital represented by its Director, Dr. Denis Nsame and that of the Orange Foundation officials led by its Board Chairman, Patrick Benon, to proceed with the handing over of important items to support the activities of the hospital.

The two parties exchanged views on all the problems the hospital faces on a daily basis and on the multiform contribution of Orange Cameroun through its foundation.

The second stage took the Orange Foundation caravan to the towns of Buea and Limbe. Under the supervision of South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, the Limbe Hospital was provided with one borehole to facilitate access to drinking water for patients and nursing staff.
