Ndu Subdivision: Military unleashes terror on suspected killers of Hon Abe Michael.

Weapons, one of several bikes retrieved during operation

At least eight separatist fighters wreaking havoc in Ndu Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division of the restive North West Region, have reportedly been killed.

The gunmen are said to have been killed during a special operation that was conducted by defence and security forces on January 6, 2026.

According to sources on the ground, the neutralised gunmen are believed to have masterminded the kidnap and killing of Hon Abe Michael Ndra, Member of Parliament for Donga Mantung West constituency, covering Misaje and Ako Subdivisions, last year.

We learned that the group was ambushed in a place called Nfap-Mbawnchari, in Mbawnsoh village, Ndu Subdivision during the operation.

Soldiers who carried out the operation are reported to have benefited from the support of armed Fulani (Mbororo) militias.

Meanwhile, more than eight automatic rifles, eight motorbikes and other ammunition were retrieved from the group led by the self-styled General Bansaah, who was also killed in the operation.

The dreaded Bansaah, believed to be highly mystical, had been at the command of the armed group operating in parts of Ndu Subdivision, and the Bui Division, since the beginning of the armed conflict in the two English-speaking Regions.

The armed separatist group was allegedly responsible for several attacks and atrocities on the population and important personalities in the Divisions.

The late MP for Ako/Mesaje Special Constituency was reportedly returning home after the October 12 presidential poll, when he was abducted by the gunmen.

The lifeless body of the MP was later found at the village square days after he was taken hostage. He was killed while serving his second mandate as member of parliament.

It is worth recalling that the January 6 military attack is one of the biggest operations by defence forces in the area in recent years.
