Bambili: Gunmen kill varsity student, abduct others in nightclub shooting.

The late Nkwenti Jordan

A student of the Customs Department of Higher Institute of Transport and Logistics at the University of Bamenda, UBa, Nkwenti Jordan, has died from bullet wounds.

The student is said to have sustained the wounds after gunmen attacked a nightclub in Bambili, Tubah Subdivision, Mezam Division of the North West Region.

It happened in the night of Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Nkwenti is said to have died in the early hours of yesterday. Sources said he was shot alongside two others in the nightclub at Corners, Bambili, by suspected separatist fighters.

The Guardian Post gathered that the suspects were targeting security officers who were drinking at the same venue.

The other two injured victims are reported to be responding to treatment, sources indicated.

We also gathered that at least three others, including two students at Down Quarters and the owner of a popular documentation centre in Bambili, were kidnapped that same night.

A source told The Guardian Post that there were sporadic gunshots on Sunday night at Down Quarters, Up Quarters and around Corners in Bambili.

The incidents add to the already persisting security concerns rocking the university community in Bambili and Tubah Subdivision in particular in recent weeks.

On Friday, November 14, 2025, armed men stormed a Mosque in Sabga, neighbouring Bambili village, and opened fire on worshipers.

Three people were killed, nine others wounded, and several kidnapped before later being rescued through the intervention of security forces.

That same Friday, another violent incident occurred at Four Corners, Bambui. Then, gunmen opened fire, killing a coffin dealer known as Kingsley, and abducted a local bar owner.

The double attacks also followed the killing of four gendarmes on Saturday, November 8, 2025, near Door Market, above Bambili.

While November has been described by many as a challenging one for residents of Tubah Subdivision, authorities have continued to promise investigations into the upsurge of violence in the area.

After the attack on the Mosque, the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Mezam Division, Simon Emile Mooh, issued a statement condemning the happenstance.

Mooh had described the incident as a “reprehensible act of lawlessness” against innocent civilians.

The administrator had reassured the population that defense and security forces were conducting a diligent manhunt to bring the perpetrators to justice.
