The Head of the CPDM Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation for Fako Division, in the South West Region, Prof Nalova Lyonga, has laid a solid foundation for a 100% victory for the ruling party at the November 30 Regional Elections in the Region.

Though the CPDM will be running unopposed during the Sunday election, Prof Nalova Lyonga who doubles as Minister of Secondary Education, and her team are not leaving anything to chance.

As part of efforts to ensure that the CPDM grabs all available votes on November 30, Minister Nalova Lyonga Saturday November 22, chaired a parley in Limbe, Fako Division of the South West Region.

The meeting organised at the behest of the member of government, also provided CPDM officials in Fako an opportunity to take stock of the division’s participation at the October 12 presidential election.

It was first time members of the CPDM in Fako were meeting following the October election in which Biya emerged victorious.

Speaking at the strategic gathering on Saturday, Prof Nalova Lyonga, while launching CPDM Fako Regional election campaign, urged the ruling party supporters in the area to bury the hatchet and speak with one voice.

The Fako CPDM party boss had during meeting, acknowledged that the party encountered several hiccups in the build-up to and during the October 12 presidential election, but felicitated supporters for making the best choice by voting the party’s National President at the crucial election.

Minister Nalova Lyonga was blunt that: "Anywhere where people are holding elections, it is always so difficult. So difficult because some people look at it as a time to pay back others they think have hurt them. Fako is not an exception".

The Prof Nalova Lyonga meeting with her Fako CPDM supporters was the first since the October 12 presidential election during which the party recorded poor results compared to previous elections.

The minister Nalova Lyonga had used the meeting to call on CPDM supporters in Fako to put the presidential behind them and focus on what lies ahead.

She was categorical that the presidential has come and gone insisting that focus now should be on the Regional Assembly election to be held this Sunday.

In Fako Division, the CPDM will be running unopposed. Everything being equal, the party is expected to record a 100 percent victory.

The electoral college for the Regional Election is made up exclusively of municipal councillors from the different Councils in the Division.

With all seven councils in Fako under the control of the CPDM party, the ruling political outfit, observers say, is sure 100% victory.

During the Limbe meeting held in the Bota neighbourhood, Minister Nalova had implored her fellow party comrades who will be voting to bury their differences and put their party's interest first on Sunday, November 30.

The South West Regional Assembly is made up of 90 members. Of this number, 20 are traditional rulers who will be voted exclusively by their peers.

Fako has the lion share of a total of 21 aspirants who are vying to be elected into the South West Regional Assembly. Amongst the 21 are seven women.

The Fako list is headed by Hon Paul Njie Meoto, one time Chief of Cabinet at the Prime Minister's Office under then Prime Minister, Chief Ephraim Inoni.

Other members of the list include former South West Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, Ngundu Francis Mokomba, Effoe Rebecca Limunga, Mafany Njie among others.

One of the aspirants, Limunga Rebecca Effoe, who is vying for a second mandate, said during the Limbe campaign rally that in their first mandate, they "planted the seeds of development".

Prof Nalova: Biya’s hunting dog in Fako

Following her installation in April this year as Head of CPDM Permanent Divisional Delegation to Fako and substantive member of the CPDM Central Committee, Minister Nalova Lyonga immediately hit the ground running.
