Appointment of party officials: Nkuete rebukes Cavaye for usurping Biya’s role.

The Secretary General of the Central Committee of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party, Jean Nkuete, has berated the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, for taking upon himself to fill vacant positions in the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation of the party.

Hon Cavaye Yeguie, who is also Head of the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation of the Central Committee, was publicly rebuked in a statement issued Monday, November 17, 2025. It was widely circulated on social media.

In the statement, titled: “Modification of the composition of the Regional Permanent Delegation of the Far North Central Committee”, Jean Nkuete, who served previously as Minister of Agriculture, didn’t have kind words for Hon Cavaye Yeguie.

The ex-Vice Prime Minister told the veteran politician that appointment of members of the CPDM Permanent Divisional Delegations, remain the sole responsibility of President Biya, who is also National President of the party.

“Further to your decision referred to above, ‘completing the composition of the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation’, I have the honour to remind you that by virtue of the provisions of article 28 of the Statutes, the appointment of the Members of the Regional and Divisional Permanent Delegations of the Central Committee is the exclusive prerogative and competence of the National President,” Jean Nkuete stated. 

He was blunt that: “Thus, the composition of the Regional Permanent Delegation of the Far North Central Committee remains exclusively that contained in Decision n°005/RDPC/PN of 09 December 2015 appointing the Members of the Regional Permanent Delegations of the Central Committee”.

“Please accept, Mr. Head of Delegation and Dear Comrade, the expression of my distinguished consideration,” he concluded.

To recall that on Friday, November 14, 2025, Hon Cavaye Yeguie had appointed some officials into of the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation of the CPDM. 

The move, Hon Cavaye had said, was part of efforts to fill vacant spots.

In his November 14 appointment letter, Hon Cavaye Yeguie had stated that: “Noting the unavailability of certain members of the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation: Considering the requirements for the proper functioning of the said delegation, decides: The composition of the Far North Regional Permanent Delegation is completed as follows: Members: Hele Pierre, Alamine Ousmane Mey, El Hadj Boukar Abdourahim, Mounouna Foutsou, Zakiatou Djamo, Madi Ali and Mohamadou Atikou Kalda”.

The Chargés de mission appointed by Hon Cavaye Yeguie included Abdou Namba, Maina Anatole, Tawita Germaine Épouse Litassou and Gablon Jean Robert.
