ART, MTN Cameroon strengthen cooperation to boost service quality.

MTN Cameroon, ART bosses shake hands shortly after working session

The Managing Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board, known by its French abbreviation, ART, Prof. Philemon Zo’o Zame, has led a high-level working mission to MTN Cameroon’s headquarters in Douala, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and dialogue between the regulator and mobile operators.

The three-day mission, which ran from October 1 to 3, sought to consolidate institutional collaboration in line with government’s strategic vision for the development of Cameroon’s electronic communications sector.

Discussions between the ART delegation and MTN Cameroon’s management team centrered on key issues shaping the country’s digital transformation, ranging from the quality of service offered to consumers and network investments, to operational challenges and new avenues for collaboration.

At the end of the working session, Prof. Zo’o Zame lauded MTN Cameroon’s commitment to maintaining regulatory compliance and contributing to the sector’s growth.

“ART is committed to strengthening proximity regulation to foster better understanding between the Regulator and Operators,” he stated.

“The constructive exchanges with MTN Cameroon reflect our shared goal of improving service quality for users and advancing telecommunications development in the country,” he added.

On his part, MTN Cameroon’s Chief Executive Officer, Wanda Matandela, welcomed the regulator’s initiative, describing the visit as a step forward in promoting transparency and collaboration within the sector.

“We applaud ART’s leadership for this engagement, which enhances trust between the Regulator and Operators,” Matandela said.

“It also allowed us to present our ongoing efforts to modernise our network and deliver inclusive digital solutions that drive Cameroon’s progress,” Wanda Matandela noted.

The ART visit, officials said, reaffirmed both institutions’ resolve to work hand in hand towards a more efficient and sustainable telecommunications ecosystem in Cameroon.
