National Interpools: NW, SW clubs secure wins in opening fixtures.

Dream Team FC

The representatives of the North West and South West Regions began their 2025 National Interpools campaigns with well-deserved victories.

While 10-man Dream Team FC of Bamenda came from behind to defeat Epervier of Ebolowa 2-1, Kumba City FC defeated Diamant FC of Yagoua 3-1.

Dream Team FC was the first of the Anglophone regions flagbearers to compete in the competition and they did not disappoint.

The North West Region club had to come from behind to secure their first win in the 10-team competition during their Pool B opener yesterday.

The game took place at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo. It was a hugely entertaining game.

The Bamenda-based outfit was hit by an early onslaught when their rivals from the South Region, Epervier of Ebolowa, took the lead through Jean Baptiste Onana barely 11 minutes into the game.

Epervier of Ebolowa looked to have wrapped up the points early in the game but Dream Team FC had other plans and showed plenty of determination to turn the tables around.

Dream Team FC player Ndifon Nchidia was at his imperial best and with the help of his teammates masterminded the comeback.

He cancelled out Epervier’s lead on 29 minutes and capped off the comeback seven minute to the break. There were opportunities in the second half for both teams but they failed to hit the target.

Dream Team FC held off an unlikely comeback to emerge victorious. They were forced to finish the game with 10-players after goalkeeper, Ngam Leonard was sent off after he handled the ball outside his area.

The expulsion of the experienced goalkeeper is a significant blow to Dream Team’s Elite Two promotion hopes. Ngam made a crucial save and scored the winning penalty in the shootout during the North West Mini-Interpool final last month.

But it remains a brilliant start for the North West Region flagbearers as they made a serious push to secure promotion to the MTN Elite Two next season.

It is worth mentioning that Dream Team is drawn in pool B of the 2025 National Interpools.

In the other game in Pool B, Titanic FC of Samar from the Littoral Region thrashed AS Ntoung Ngouong of the East Region 3-0 to claim the top seat. Mintack FC of Septentrion of the North Region, the other member of the group, was on standby.

Kumba City FC celebrates maiden win

Elsewhere at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza, in Yaounde, Kumba City FC put up a commanding display to defeat Diamant FC of Yagoua of the Far North Region.

The South West champions needed just eight minutes to find the breakthrough after Ventoline Wafou put them ahead but Nouhou Mazou of Diamant FC levelled scores at the 22nd minute.

Kumba City FC regained the lead before the break through Gibel Pento Muh from the spot before Enow Nkar sealed the victory five minutes to stoppage time.

Kumba City FC are level on points with Sable of Batie who edged Olympic of Meiganga 2-0 in the tournament opener on Monday September 1. The other member of pool A, host side Mintack FC of the Centre Region, was on standby.
