MMA: Fongno secures technical decision victory over Ivorian, Kone.

Cameroonian Mixed Martial Arts, MMA athlete, Cabrel Fongno, claimed victory in Abuja on Saturday night after earning a technical decision over Ivorian fighter, Memon Kone.

This was during an explosive middleweight clash at the African Knockout Championship, AKO 10.

The encounter, staged in Nigeria’s capital, was marked by intensity and resilience as both athletes displayed grit and determination inside the cage.

Fongno, known for his aggressive striking and tactical composure, held his own against Kone in what proved to be a tightly contested battle.

After multiple rounds of hard-hitting exchanges, the judges were left to decide the outcome, ultimately awarding the bout to Fongno via technical decision.

The victory, pundits say cements his rising profile on the African MMA scene and further establishes Cameroon as a growing powerhouse in combat sports.

With the win, the 28-year-old middleweight continues his push toward higher rankings within the African Knockout Championship and beyond.

“It was all heart and steel,” Fongno grinned after the decision was read.

“I gave everything for Cameroon. This win is for my country,” the fighter noted further.

Fongno’s ascent in the African MMA scene has been unwavering, thanks in large part to the steadfast backing of the Cameroonian Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

According to insiders, the federation has “spared no efforts” in nurturing his development, providing strategic support, training opportunities, and resources to ensure his steady rise toward continental prominence.

FECAMMADA has been very instrumental in training MMA athletes in Cameroon.

It was formally created in March 2020 during a constituent general assembly and later received full recognition from the Ministry of Sports in May 2023, following the law on the organisation of physical and sporting activities.

The federation’s mission is to regulate, organise, and promote MMA and related disciplines across the country.

It supervises regional and departmental leagues, validates statutes and activities, and organizes competitions at national and international levels.
