Renowned online educational platform, dedicated to improving learning in Cameroon, Yakili, has officially launched a transformative teacher training programme for schools registered under the Secretariat of Lay Private Institution, SEDUC.

The programme, launched by Africa's first digital curriculum- based animated video lesson platform, took place this week in Yaounde.

It was launched in partnership with the regulatory body responsible for upholding standards in private education, SEDUC.

This was during a press conference on the digitalization of training programmes for SEDUC schools.

The ceremony was organised at the Yakili headquarters in Santa Barbara, Yaounde.

The launching of the teacher training programme on digitalisation and AI tools in education in Cameroon was graced by the SEDUC President and Secretary General, school proprietors, teachers, who are pilots of education.

It was revealed that the rollout of the first phase of the comprehensive teacher training programme will empower teachers, who they described as the heart of the educational process.

It is part of Yakili’s commitment to empower educators and learners across Cameroon through technology tailored specifically to the needs of schools.

In his opening statement, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Yakili, Micheal Enonchong, described the event as a pivotal moment at the heart of Cameroon's educational evolution.

According to Enonchong, the launch of the teacher training program marks the beginning of a transformation that will influence generations to come.

He stressed that the digital age was already reshaping every aspect of society, and it was imperative that “our classrooms must keep pace”.

By accelerating digital adoption in schools, Enonchong mentioned that Yakili was not simply keeping up but preparing educators and or learners to lead in this new world.

“We have developed a robust digital curriculum, featuring animated video lessons and interactive simulation-based practicals that allow teachers and students to visualize, understand, and master concepts, moving beyond rote memorization to profound comprehension,” Enochong said.

Enonchong added that through the training, Yakili is setting in motion a process of deep and lasting transformation of the country’s national educational system and empowering teachers to inspire curiosity, creativity and critical thinking in their classrooms.

The Yakili CEO also thanked SEDUC for entrusting them with this significant and impactful project. He pledged to chart a course that will elevate Cameroon’s position in global education.

Enter SEDUC President

The President of SEDUC, Tsimi Lazare, said that the teacher training programme on digitisation and the use of AI tools is set to transform Cameroon's educational landscape, empower teachers, and most importantly, elevate the learning experience of every student across the nation.

Tsimi said the comprehensive training program, designed to equip teachers across the country, from kindergarten to high school, with the digital tools and AI-enhanced methods needed to improve academic performance and spark curiosity in every learner.

“Improving the quality of education means going beyond the classroom. It means ensuring that innovation reaches every student, regardless of their location or financial situation,” Tsimi revealed.

While presenting the overview and expectations, the vice the deputy of the SEDUC president, Martha Pufong, said Yakili is expected to be a reliable provider of high-quality, curriculum-aligned digital resources, an unwavering champion for teacher empowerment, and a partner fully engaged in making digital learning accessible and affordable.

Pufong also added that SEDUC expects Yakili to be a steward of privacy and data security, and a proactive participant in continuous improvement.

SEDUC hails Yakili for strides

The President of SEDUC also hailed Yakili for their strides recorded.  According to Tsimi, SEDUC made the right choice by choosing Yakili as an implementation partner.

Tsimi said the choice of Yakili was based on their exceptional capabilities, passionate engineering, and proven experience in creatively digitizing the Cameroonian curriculum.

According to Tsimi, thanks to this partnership, every multimedia center and classroom in Cameroon will now have “access to our entire national curriculum, digitized, interactive, and accessible even without an internet connection”.

This bold leap forward, Tsimi revealed, ensures that quality education is no longer a privilege, but a right for every Cameroonian student.

It is important to mention that the training program shall unfold in several carefully designed stages.

All teachers, regardless of previous experience, will receive hands-on guidance in basic digital literacy and navigation of the Yakili platform.

Also, it was revealed that workshops tailored for different subject areas will help teachers seamlessly embed digital content into their lesson plans, maintaining alignment with Cameroonian curriculum standards while enhancing student engagement.

All training will be delivered through a blend of in-person workshops and self-paced online modules, so that educators can continue to learn and practice at their own pace.

Yakili to install offline servers

It was revealed that Yakili’s technical crews will undertake the installation of offline servers at all schools involved in the program.  These servers, as mentioned, will be equipped with a suite of educational materials that includes 400 animated video lessons, interactive activities, evaluation instruments, and an AI-powered curriculum assistant. They are all aligned with national educational standards and accessible without internet connectivity.

Yakili announced that as for the 2025/2026 school year, schools engaged in the SEDUC-Yakili initiative will receive digital resources, server installation, and teacher training at a significantly reduced cost.

A generous 50% discount on the services has been further increased to an 80% reduction for schools at the entry level.
