Donga Mantung: Nkambe denounces attacks on its peace, national unity promoters.

Protesters brandishing placards with messages denouncing blackmail

Community leaders and the living forces of Nkambe Central Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, have strongly deplored what they say are “sponsored malicious accusations and blackmail” against its illustrious peace and national unity crusaders.

As per the community leaders, the “diabolic” moves, aimed at destabilising the Subdivision and its visionary political leaders, have been activated by “dark forces”.

The living forces of Nkambe identified “unpatriotic self-centered civil servants, persons within the forces of law and order and the judiciary in Nkambe”, to be behind the destructive acts.

Their denunciation is the content of a strongly-worded memo, which they addressed to the Head of State, President Paul Biya.

The memo, a copy of which The Guardian Post has seen, has as subject: “Reaffirmation of our unflinching support, patriotism and loyalty to your leadership and the State institutions you incarnate”.

The memo was handed to the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Donga Mantung, Bassiliken Georges Magloire Emmanuel, for onward transmission, Friday October 4.

The concerned inhabitants had prior to handing the memo, which was more of an alert to the Head of State, staged a peaceful protest across major streets of Nkambe.

With peace plants and placards bearing various messages, the protesters denounced the activities of doomsters, who they accused of throwing banana peelings on the paths of their community peace champions and political leaders such as Shey Jones Yembe, Hon Barrister Ta Nformi Ngala Gerard and Mayor Shey Nfor Musa.

The protesters were unanimous in their memo that the Subdivision’s time-tested commitment to an indivisible Cameroon, its steadfastness to peace and sustainable development and exemplary participation in major national festivities have been sustained, thanks to former Minister Shey Jones Yembe, Hon Ngala Gerard and Mayor Nfor Musa.

They also said the same elite have been behind Nkambe Subdivision’s attachment and respect for State institutions and unconditional rejection of violence, especially the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions. The people decried that cynics have been targeting the elite for destruction.

“These leaders have worked hard and in unison with the administration, other stakeholders and the population to ensure and sustain peace,” they stated.

The efforts of Shey Jones, Hon Ngala Gerard and Mayor Nfor Musa, they noted, represents the Subdivision’s determination and commitment to continue to stand by the Head of State in the construction of a greater Cameroon.

Hon Ngala, Mayor Musa special targets by ‘enemies’

The protesters, through the memo, alerted the Head of State of ongoing moves aimed at destroying their political leaders with sole goal being to destabilise the Subdivision.

“Your Excellency, we respectfully wish to draw your attention to the pathetic cases of some community leaders, namely Honourable Ngala Gerard Ndombang and Mayor Musa Shey Nfor, who for the past 10 years have tirelessly spearheaded the implementation of your ideologies of peace, living together and development…”

“They have now become special targets of secessionists and other forces of destruction. We wish to state here that these our leaders have suffered untold hardship in the course of fighting for peace in Nkambe, to wit; Honourable Ngala’s family house was burnt down in Tabenken by secessionists, his heavy civil engineering machines, worth hundreds of millions, were burnt down by secessionists, his mother was kidnapped and we cannot count the number of times they attempted killing him. The mayor’s sister was also kidnapped and tortured to the extent that she finally died. With all these sacrifices suffered by our leaders because they serve us and you, we wish to hereby acknowledge them and commend them to you, in the face of the conspiracy and sabotage against them, orchestrated by enemies of the nation,” the memo read.

Evil plans to destabilise Nkambe

The protesters also drew the attention of the Head of State to ongoing moves by these “dark forces” to perturb the peace reigning in the Subdivision, thanks to efforts of their political leaders.

“Your Excellency, kindly permit us bring to your esteemed attention that some dark forces, bent on destroying your efforts and legacy in Nkambe, have resorted to various methods of destabilisation of our peaceful Subdivision, through diabolic means,” partly reads the memo.

Nkambe, which has been a peace sanctuary, since the outbreak of the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions, the protesters regretted, has since the start of 2024, witnessed incidents of separatist attacks, kidnapping for ransom, detonation of explosives, burning of commercial motorbikes and many youths who stood up to secure the community from these terrorists killed due to acts of ‘enemies’ within.

Such moves engaged by sons and daughters of Nkambe Central Subdivision to frustrate the peace efforts of three political leaders, the protesters added, have made “hoodlums from neighbouring Divisions” to be “able to infiltrate Nkambe”.

They cited moves engaged by “some few unpatriotic self-centered civil servants, persons within the forces of law and order, the judiciary in Nkambe etc abetting acts of destabilisation, victimisation of youths, fabrication and propagation of false information in collaboration with well-established secessionists sponsored media and social media handles”.

The protesters also condemned what they said are “systemic and deceitful reports against elected officials by some misguided and selfish civil servants who they said are heavily sponsored by some politicians as anticipated positioning for the upcoming political consultations as well as promotions”.

The community leaders also denounced the torture the people of Nkambe plying the Ndu-Kumbo-Bamenda stretch of road go through for rejecting the “failed Ambazonia project of terror and looting, which have inflicted untold pain and sufferings in the North West and South West Regions”.

They said they saw in the recent outing of a certain Barrister Amungwa Tanyi Nicodemus, the hidden hand of those they qualified as “sponsors of malicious accusations and blackmail against our elected leaders”. Barrister Amungwa Tanyi Nicodemus, they said, “is the lead lawyer of the secessionist group of Ayuk Tabe Sissiku.”

Plead for Biya’s urgent intervention

Faced with the disturbing developments, and conscious of the urgent need to promote, preserve and safeguard the legacy of the political leaders, the protesters called on the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to kindly use his “internationally acclaimed wisdom to stop these ill-intentioned bad faith individuals”.

They also appealed to the President of the Republic to use his “Supreme authority, wisdom, and tact to take measures reassuring the youths and the peaceful population of Nkambe that victimisation and sabotage, especially of their leaders, cannot go unpunished and will not prevail”.

The community leaders and living forces of Nkambe also pleaded with President Biya to “take measures to encourage and reinforce the security in Nkambe Central that has been tempered with by dark forces”.

Reaffirm support, loyalty to President Biya, State institutions

The protesters, through the memo, reaffirmed their “unflinching support and loyalty” to the Head of State and the institutions he incarnates, while counting on his “wise and prompt discernment” in handling their worries.

The protesters also appreciated President Biya’s “constant solicitude and consideration towards” the administrative unit and the entire Division.

They also expressed gratitude to the Head of State for priority projects such as the ongoing construction of the Ring Road stretch from Kumbo-Ndu-Nkambe-Misaje, with nearly all the lots contracted to enterprises managed by sons of Donga Mantung Division.

They also mentioned the ongoing construction of the Nkambe Regional Hospital Annex, the presidential reconstruction plan among others.

“Your Excellency, our long standing tested and trusted commitment to a one, united and indivisible Cameroon has been demonstrated over time, we will not relent,” the protesters stated, while pledging to “remain steadfast to the cardinal values of peace and sustainable development,” so dear to the Head of State.

They also recalled that the Subdivision has stood tall and remain an example in terms of participation at the major national festivities such as 11th February (Youth Day), National Day (20th May), International Women’s Day (8th March), and the Head of State’s anniversary in power; commemorated every November 6, despite separatist boycott calls and threats.

“Our attachment and respect for State institutions is unmatched. Our unconditional rejection of violence, especially the ongoing armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions, is telling of our determination and commitment to continue to stand by the Head of State, in the construction of a greater Cameroon. Our massive adherence to policies and politics of national integration, reconciliation and living together is telling of who we are,” the living forces stated.
