Community dev’t: CSPH DG rallies elite to thank Biya for securing 2.2 billion FCFA for Nguti.

This was the focus of a meeting which grouped Nguti elite in Yaounde, on Friday October 4. The meeting took place under the aegis of the Nhlua Area Development Association, NADA. 

The Deputy Director General of the Cameroon Cocoa Development Cooperation, SODECAO, Enan James Enang, attended the meeting alongside other elite, among them traditional rulers, Regional Councillors and Members of Parliament, MPs, of Kupe-Muanenguba. They used the meeting to discuss ways to make the best of the funding. 

In his capacity as NADA National President, Okie Johnson said he, other elite and the population of Nguti, are grateful to the Head of State and the entire government for the funding, secured from the African Development Bank, AfDB.

The money, Okie said, is for road works across villages in Nguti Subdivision, measuring 100 kilometres, community markets and the provision of potable water.

He expressed delight with the level of support the project got through different government institutions. Okie reminded his people that the offer shows how attached they are to the ideals of the New Deal.

He told the people that other development projects outside the 2.2 billion FCFA will also see the light of day soonest. Okie mentioned electricity extension to communities and the provision of solar lamps to other communities. 

The NADA president remarked that President Biya has listened to the people of Nguti Subdivision and they will continue to offer him their unflinching support. 

With works expected to take off anytime soon, he declared that funding is already available.

Okie disclosed that it took NADA eight years of consistency of relating with relevant state structures for the project to see the light of day. 

He also extended appreciation to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, and other relevant stakeholders for standing with the people of Nguti. 

The project funding, he explained, came through the Agricultural Value Development Project in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The CSPH boss said he conceived the project and worked with competent state institutions and other persons of goodwill to contribute to improve the living conditions of the population of Nguti Subdivision.

Project launch announced for December 

The NADA National President told his kith and kin that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe, is expected to officially launch the commencement of works, latest the first week of December 2024. He explained that before then, works will be ongoing.

Okie begged community leaders, traditional rulers and the population of Nguti, to work as a team to ensure the smooth realisation of the projects.  Contract papers, he also disclosed, have been signed with BUNDES Construction Company and Real Estate Company for roads and other community projects respectively.

Nguti to reciprocate offer with voting Biya

Speaking at the event, the Section President of CPDM Kupe-Muanenguba II Nguti, Ajang Evaristus, said thanks to the projects, supporters of the ruling party are ready to vote President Biya, come next year’s presidential election. 

Ajang also said such an offer is a show of commitment from the government to the people of Nguti and they will pay back through voting for the CPDM in up-coming political consultations. 

Ajang underscored that Nguti Subdivision is still 95 percent enclaved, insisting that with the projects to commence, they will do everything to ensure full implementation.

Coordinator, works delegate demand quality

The Coordinator of the Agricultural Value Development Project, AVDP, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nkodo Ngono epse Atanga, and Kupe-Muanenguba Divisional Delegate of Public Works, underscored the need for quality works.

Nkodo who worked with the AfDB on the project, said the funding requires quality works on especially bridges that will serve the communities for 50 years. 

Contractors and traditional rulers took the engagements to ensure the projects are realised without hitches.

Elite hail Okie Johnson’s selflessness 

Several speakers at the meeting took turns to thank Okie Johnson for making the development and wellbeing of the population of his people a priority. 

One of the elite, Hon Fonge Julius, MP for Kupe-Muanenguba II, described Okie as the light of the people of Nguti Subdivision. 

The MP said God has given the CSPH Director General to the people of Nguti to bring the Subdivision out of darkness and underdevelopment.
