The British High Commission in Cameroon has sent off a fresh cohort of Cameroonians recently retained for the 2024 Chevening Scholarship programme.

The nine Cameroonians selected for this year’s edition of the scholarship were presented during a ceremony organised at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Yaounde.

The ceremony was chaired by the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, His Excellency Barry Lowen. The diplomat congratulated the scholars and highlighted the importance of the Chevening Scholarship programme in fostering global leaders in the world.

According to the Barry Lowen, the nine scholars from Cameroon are the best of the best. The diplomat went on to add that he is proud of them and can only wish them the best in the various renowned universities where they will be studying in Britain.

“Chevening Scholarships are a testament to the outstanding talent and ambition we have here in Cameroon. It is our pleasure to support these bright individuals as they pursue their studies and contribute to the growth of their communities and the country as a whole,” Lowen remarked.

He said the nine beneficiaries are beneficiaries of a one-year fully funded scholarship. Lowen challenged them to make good use of the opportunity given them through the Chevening Scholarship.

While wishing them luck in their new universities, he urged the scholars to remain the best like their predecessors and to enjoy their stay in the UK.

One of the 2024 Chevening Scholars, Sirri Ngwa Ryisa, told reporters that she was given the opportunity to study for an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management at the University of Surrey.

The scholarship, she said, marks a significant milestone in her academic and professional journey, which has been nothing dedication in the field of entrepreneurship.

Ryisa equally shared her excitement about the scholarship, noting that the skills she will gain at the University of Surrey will help her better her works.

She advised future applicants to “…always seek help whenever you get stuck in your application process. Additionally, read the Chevening website carefully. All the resources you need for a successful application are available there”.

Agbor Frankline Ojong, another beneficiary, told reporters that the most difficult thing has always been to find the best scholarship to apply for. He is set to study MSc in Human and Social Data Science for one year at the University of Sussex.
