SAGO 2024: CAMTEL showcases contribution to country's digital transformation.

The Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, has publicly showcased its immensurable contribution to the country’s digital transformation.
The achievements of the telecoms giant in the sector, were publicly presented at the ongoing Government Action Fair, SAGO 2024.

This was during a conference organised Wednesday on the sidelines of the international fair taking place at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The conference attended by key figures in the telecoms sector, highlighted CAMTEL's significant contributions to the country's digital transformation.

Speaking at the conference, the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, boasted that her company’s infrastructure heritage includes four submarine cables, 12,800 km of optical fiber, a Tier 3 certified data center, and a robust network of fiber optic, 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile networks.

She said the infrastructure has facilitated digitized services, including online tax declarations and customs operations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform.

The company's efforts in security, she said are visible. She said the company has helped in the deployment of public video surveillance in major cities, comprising 3,000 cameras.

Additionally, CAMTEL has contributed to the creation of digital development centers in state universities, enabling e-education.

According to Judith Yah Sunday, the company has played a crucial role in Cameroon's telecommunications development over the past 25 years.

As a partner of choice for connectivity in Central and West Africa, CAMTEL's extensive network and access to international submarine cables positions the company as a key player in the region's digital transformation.

Judith Yah told the gathering that CAMTEL currently boasts one of the most robust infrastructures in the subregion.

She said the infrastructure has enabled CAMTEL to play a key role in attaining sustainable development goals, notably in reducing digital gap.

“In favour of these robust infrastructures, CAMTEL has been facilitating the online administration of numerous public service users,” she said.

The GM also disclosed that CAMTEL has created digital development centers in state universities to boost e-learning.

“For the past 25 years, CAMTEL has played a crucial role in the development of telecommunication in Cameroon. Our constant efforts have led to the considerable amelioration of the quality of electronic communication provided to network providers, administration, and the population as a whole,” she continued.
