IPA expands investment portfolio with new deals in agro-industry, tourism….

The Investment Promotion Agency, IPA, has signed new investment agreements covering projects in agro-industry, manufacturing, tourism and industrial printing. The agreements were signed recently at the agency’s headquarters in Yaounde. 

According to information shared by the institution, the agreements are part of government’s efforts to facilitate the implementation of investment projects and support job creation in the country.



Information from the IPA lists eight projects with a combined stated investment of over 80 billion FCFA The projects, according to IPA, include investments by Millenium Industries, Melanda Promoteur Immobilier, Central Africa United Group, Devi Agro SARL, Obtain SARL, SCI KRI Aqua Resort, Quantum Cocoa and Industrie de Transformation et de Négoce, INTRANE.

The IPA revealed that Millenium Industries plans to invest 20 billion FCFA in an agro-food project expected to create 400 jobs, while Melanda Promoteur Immobilier is investing 10 billion FCFA in tourism and leisure, with 260 jobs projected. 

Central Africa United Group, the IPA said, has an 8 billion FCFA manufacturing project expected to create 165 jobs.

On its part, Devi Agro SARL plans 1.467 billion FCFA investment in the agro-food sector, with 46 projected jobs, while Obtain SARL is investing 1.427 billion FCFA in industrial printing and projects 50 jobs. SCI KRI Aqua Resort, it was said, has a FCFA 1.128-billion tourism and leisure project expected to create 51 jobs.

The other projects as listed by the IPA include Quantum Cocoa, with an 18 billion FCFA investment in the agro-food sector, and INTRANE, which is investing FCFA 20 billion in manufacturing. 

Speaking during the signing, IPA Interim General Manager, Boma Donatus, welcomed the investors and reiterated that the agency does not distinguish between local and foreign investors.

“To our Chinese friends, I am happy you have made Cameroon a good destination for your investments. We don't discriminate between foreign and local investors. So, your investments are welcome,” Boma said.

He also encouraged the investors to move ahead with their projects, stressing that the IPA was representing the government in signing the agreements and providing the accompanying investment incentives.
