Elizabeth Moore Aubin new US Ambassador to Cameroon.

Hearings on her nomination were held before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. 

Elizabeth Moore Aubin was received by the Senate last June 18.

The nomination of a US Ambassador, it should be said, goes through the process of designation by the President and confirmation by the Senate. 

The process at times takes months. In the case of Elizabeth Moore Aubin, it took few days for her nomination to be confirmed. 

Previously serving as US Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin will take over from Ambassador Christopher J. Lamora, who has been in Cameroon since early 2022. 

Elizabeth Moore Aubin was sworn in as the Ambassador of Algeria on December 21, 2021. She served as Senior Advisor for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, NEA, from August to December 2021.

She was equally the Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for NEA, from August 2020 to July 2021. 

Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the joint Executive Office of the Bureaus of Near Eastern Affairs and South and Central Asian Affairs.

She was the Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires in Ottawa, Canada, from May 2016 to January 2018. 

From 2014 to 2016, she was the Executive Director for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. From 2011-2014, she served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Algiers.

Elizabeth Moore Aubin has served in Washington D.C. as the Director for Human Resources for the joint Executive Office of the Bureaus of Near Eastern Affairs and South and Central Asian Affairs; Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Management; Post Management Officer in the Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureau as well as Watch Officer and Line Officer.

Overseas, she served as the Management Counselor for the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, International Resource Management Officer for USNATO in Brussels, Management Officer at the Consulate General in Toronto and General Services Officer at the Consulate General in Hong Kong. 

Her two entry-level tours were at the Embassy in Rome and at the Consulate General in Curacao.

Elizabeth Moore Aubin holds the rank of Minister Counselor. In 2022, she was awarded the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service. 

She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Barnard College. She has taken graduate courses in International Relations from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. She speaks fluent French. She is married to Daniel J. Aubin.
