Rev Fr Martin Njie, drills Christians on responsibilities of church.

Rev Fr Martin Njie schooling Christians

Rev Fr Martin Njie Moka has schooled Christians on the components and responsibilities of the church.

The priest, who was sitting in for the Bishop of Buea, Bishop Micheal Bibi, offered the lecture during a catechetical session. It took place at St. Martin De Porres Parish Bokwaongo in the South West Region.

The website of the Diocese of Buea, in a report, quotes Rev Fr Martin Njie, to have stated that the institutes of consecrated life and the societies of apostolic life are charged with the responsibility to listen to their members. He also said they are meant to ensure that they are nourished with the word of God, and to console those who are pained.

The Priest during his teaching noted that “according to the Code of Canon Law Number 627, superiors must have their own councils in accordance with the constitutions and they must make use of it in the exercise of their office”.

The council, he also said, has as role among other things to help “these superiors in the administration of the institutes and their consent must be sort in the case of the disposition of the common goods of the institutes, and the absence of a member from the community for a relatively long period”.

According to the priest, the finances of the church are managed by a finance administrator, who is always different from head of the church and must always be a neutral person.

He went on to explain that the highest institute of the church meets every five years to discuss on the issues of the church.

On the admission of candidates into the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life, Rev Fr. Martin Njie, noted that for anyone to become part of this body, the person must be physically and mentally upright. He concluded that membership can be lost due to the wilful withdrawal of a member or by dismissal by the valid authority.
