2025 presidentials: Hon Ngala Gerard urges compatriots to renew trust in Biya.

The diehard supporter of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party, made the appeal in Yaounde Tuesday, June 11.

The Donga Mantung CPDM-support bulldozer was speaking while reacting to speech of the Speaker of National Assembly, the Rt Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, at the opening of the June session of Parliament. 

Hon Ngala Gerard was visibly the star of the day, as shortly after the opening session at the National Assembly, a beehive of media men and women, approached him to get his reaction on Hon Cavaye’s speech.

While sizing up the speech of the House Speaker, as well as his expectations for the June session, Hon Ngala said he was pleased by the fact that the House Speaker touched practically on all essential issues affecting national life.

Calls for massive voter registration 

The lawmaker said he was particularly touched when the House Speaker made mention of voter registration. 

Hon Ngala Gerard seized the opportunity to add his voice to the growing campaign for massive voter registration ahead of the upcoming polls.

“People should register massively because we are going in for elections in 2025. We want our compatriots to come out and vote massively,” he stated.

Massive voter registration and massive turnout for elections, he explained, play a key role in the advancement and strengthening of the country’s democratic process. 

“It is important for the democracy of Cameroon. Cameroonians shouldn't just be complaining. They should register massively, which is very important for democracy,” the emblematic lawmaker cum business mogul noted. 

Drums support for Biya’s re-election 

The globally celebrated grassroots politician, national unity champion, philanthropist and revered community peace crusader, used the opportunity to call on his constituents and other Cameroonians to renew their trust in the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, by massively voting for him at the 2025 presidential election. 

“Yes, we want them to vote for our president, we want them to vote for the candidate of the CPDM,” Hon Ngala Gerard stated. 

Hails implementation of Universal Health Coverage

Further reacting to the speech of the House Speaker, the MP, fondly referred to, within his Donga Mantung political fief as Enfant chéri of Nkambe, also lauded strides made by government in improving healthcare delivery to all compatriots. 

This, he said, is through the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage scheme, particularly for those in remote areas who currently lack access to essential healthcare services.

Hon Ngala Gerard used the media outing to equally underscore the necessity of ensuring that all Cameroonians, irrespective of their location, receive quality and affordable medical treatment. 

“…we want to make sure that our compatriots, who are in the hinterlands, do not have access to healthcare and who do not have the means to go to the hospital, should have access to medical facilities,” he said. 

The lawmaker said he and his peers will work hand-in-glove with government to ensure the implementation of the directives of the Head of State, as far as the health sector is concerned. 

“The wish of President Paul Biya is to make sure that Cameroonians have access to healthcare. So, it is important for us to make sure that this is put in place,” Hon Ngala Gerard underscored. 

Lauds hitch-free unfolding of GCE exams 

Hon Ngala Gerard, who has been defying all odds and death threats, since the start of the crisis rocking the two English-speaking Regions, to ensure children go to school, also expressed satisfaction with the smooth unfolding of the 2024 session of examinations organised by the Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE Board, in the North West and South West Regions. 

This development, the grassroots politician said, marks a positive step towards gradual return to normalcy in the two English-speaking Regions. 

“…we are also happy to see that the education sector went on hitch-free. The exams went on hitch-free, especially in the crisis-hit North West and South West Regions…we shall continue calling on parents to defy fear and send their children to school,” the MP said. 

Hon Ngala Gerard said this positive development is indicative of the fact that measures implemented by the President of the Republic to arrest the conflict in the two English-speaking Regions are paying off. 

Reechoes commitment to peace…

Hon Ngala Gerard, who is an unsung peace crusader, national unity champion and one of the driving forces behind the calm and serenity reigning in Donga Mantung Division of the restive North West Region, used Tuesday’s outing to re-echo his commitment to foster peace and national unity. 

The MP praised initiatives and measures already made to consolidate peace efforts in place and vowed to continue supporting efforts to ensure a definitive return to tranquility and stability.

“My constituency, like other constituencies, are faring well like I said. We are happy to see what is happening in Donga Mantung and Nkambe in particular. We are pleased with what is happening. We thank all the stakeholders; security forces and the education family, who are making sure things go on smoothly,” the lawmaker concluded.
