Choice of Yang for UN top job: NW CPDM thanks Biya for honouring region, pledges continuous support.

The words of gratitude from the North West CPDM party officials, supporters and sympathisers is the content of a “statement of special appreciation” addressed to the President of the Republic, last Thursday June 6.

Their outing followed the election by acclamation of former Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang, as the President of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations. 

The Grand Chancellor of National Orders cum Permanent Regional Coordinator of CPDM party for the North West Region, was voted during a session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA. 

Yang’s CPDM party comrades, in the statement, attributed his victory to the diplomatic sagacity of President Paul Biya and pledged their unalloyed support to the President, who doubles as natural candidate of their political party. 

“Today, 6 June 2024, in Bamenda, we, militants and sympathizers of the CPDM in the North West Region, heartily express our appreciation and deep-rooted gratitude to the President of the Republic for the glaring presidential favour generously demonstrated to the people of the North West Region in the choice of their own illustrations son, His Excellency Philemon Yang,” partly read the statement of North West CPDM party bigwigs. 

They added that: “In the face of this exceptional presidential love and special favour for the North West Region, manifested at the international space, militants and sympathizers of the CPDM, hereby promise to always, in total loyalty to the laws of our Fatherland, accompany the Head of State, in all his efforts and ambitions”. 

They also appreciated President Paul Biya for successfully projecting their political leader and exemplary statesman, Philemon Yang, “with love and dedication…into the Centre of global diplomacy” as first Cameroonian to be conducted into the prestigious position of the Presidency of the UN General Assembly.

NW party officials congratulate Yang 

In another message signed by Senator Regina Mundi, CPDM party officials also congratulated the political torchbearer, Philemon Yang, for his election. 

The North West CPDM party officials, in the statement, said “they have waited in hope and great expectation” since Yang’s candidacy was submitted by the Head of State for the prestigious position and “watched with mounting anxiety and satisfaction the various stages of the procedure leading to the final election”. 

“Your Excellency, in the light of this prominent and outstanding victory in global diplomacy and world affairs, militants of the CPDM in the North West Region hereby extend their warmest congratulations on that momentous victory that projects you into the central stage of international concerns,” they wrote. 

The CPDM politicians said they count on the “tested leadership acumen, honesty and diligence in the service of humankind across the world” on Yang as he prepares to assume office. 

“We pray the Almighty God to fully equip you for the arduous assignment and may He grant you divine favours, good health, long life and resounding success during your tenure,” they added.
