20th May march past: Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah revives, powers SDF to steal show in Batibo, Mbengwi.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah & other SDF supporters after National Day march past

Grassroots political heavyweight and bigwig of opposition Social Democratic Front, SDF party, Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin, has single-handedly revived and powered the political outfit that had gone comatose in the past eight years in Momo Division of the North West Region, to bounce back powerfully.

Underground work done by the National Legal Adviser of the SDF, to bring a new lease of life to the party in the area, were brought to the fore Monday May 20.

This was when the party led a historic march past and unarguably stole the show during celebrations marking the 52nd National Day in Mbengwi and Batibo Subdivisions.

The two administrative units, it should be said, form the Momo East Constituency, which is the political fief of Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah led the SDF party supporters who marched past the ceremonial ground in Mbengwi, during the National Day.

The party supporters and sympathisers brandished peace plants during the march past, indicating their resolve to work for return to normalcy in the area.

They expressed their joy to bounce back powerfully, ahead of next year’s polls. The massive turnout of the party supporters outnumbered that of other political parties in Batibo and Mbengwi.

Some of the party supporters shed tears of joy to express their delight, following the revival of the party.

Speaking to this reporter after leading the march past, Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah, said the celebration in Mbengwi was a huge success.

“I had to personally finance and sponsor the party to take part in the march past in Batibo and in Mbengwi, because this is my constituency, the Momo East Constituency. I am happy the march past actually took place in Mbenwi Central Subdivision and Batibo Subdivision,” he said.

He said the march past was “spectacular, because nobody was expecting the SDF to show up after eight years of being in the cold without participating,” due to the silence of the party’s political elite as a result of the ongoing crisis.

The legal luminary, had in a bid to ensure a spectacular display of the SDF supporters, printed party T-shirts, fabrics, flags and other gadgets and distributed to supporters.

He had also moved to the village a week earlier to see how to galvanise support at the grassroots for the event as he has repeatedly been doing.

“The number of SDF militants who marched were more than those of the CPDM,” he boasted. He questioned how the ruling party is representing the people in the constituency.

His topmost satisfaction, he added, was seeing “people who have been hungry to see the SDF back in the constituency”.

“I saw how some people shed tears of joy and held me, held my hands and held my feet tight and said: ‘Thank you Ntumfon for bringing the SDF back to the Momo East Constituency’,” he said.

He also promised the grassroots supporters that he will not fail them but will continue to do his best to ensure the SDF regains the council and the two parliamentary seats of the Momo East Constituency.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah however apologised for not being able to contact all the wards of the party in the Mbengwi Electoral District, due to time and limited gadgets.

“We are calling on them to join us on the 26th of May, which is a Sunday, in the party’s secretariat in Mbengwi, as we commemorate the anniversary of the SDF and to remember our fallen hero, the late National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi,” he said.

Overcoming threats to revive SDF

The member of the SDF National Executive Committee, NEC, said he had to do his utmost, amidst threats to revive the party activities and give hope to the party’s supporters.

“I had to take the bull by the horns, despite all the threats that I have been receiving,” the diehard SDF bigwig said, while expressing shock that politicians of the ruling CPDM party are instead not threatened at the base.

“…what beats my imagination is that the council is run by the CPDM and we have a CPDM parliamentarian and they are not being threatened. So, why are they threatening the opposition?” he wondered.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah said with such developments at the grassroots, he has the feeling “the CPDM is threatening the opposition under the guise of Amba boys”.

“I want to think that they [CPDM] are the ones threatening the SDF because I am not seeing the boys [Amba fighters] threatening the CPDM,” he added.

Saluted by administration

The wonderful mobilisation by Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah, for the National Day celebration, it should be said, got the applause of the Momo administration.

His efforts were hailed by the Senior Divisional Officer for Momo, who called and congratulated him personally for giving colour to the celebration in his area of command.
